Mocking the week before

1. Josh Simmons OT Ohio State 6’5” 310- doesn’t have to be rushed into playing time. Can develop his technique and build strength as he continues to recover from his injury. Measured over 34” arms at his pro day.

2. Bradyn Swinson DE LSU 6’4” 255- a different tour off end than what we have. Good explosion and bend around the edge. Would compliment Karlaftis nicely. Doesn’t have to start right away

3. Joshua Farmer DT Florida State 6’3” 305- we have shown a lot of interest in him. A disrupter on the interior in the run and pass game. Can be brought around slowly as well

3. Bayshul Tuten RB Virginia Tech 5’10” 210- a threat to go the distance at any time. A good compliment to Pacheco and Hunt. Shows good receiving skills too.

4. Logan Brown OT Kansas 6’6” 315- was a big time recruit out of high school. Shows good movement skills. Can develop behind Taylor and be a replacement for him next year. Or be a solid swing tackle. Allows Morris to move inside and back up Smith.

7. Kaden Prather WR Maryland 6’4 210- a true X WR. Has good speed and explosion run in the mid 4.4s. Started to show his explosion again after his leg break two years ago now.

7. Nick Martin LB Oklahoma State 6’ 225- has great speed and explosion. Tough tackler. Can cover the flats well. Great at blitzing. Can develop behind Tranquill for a year. Him and Bolton would compliment each other very nicely.

7. Malik Verdon S Iowa State 6’4” 215- big physical safety with good range. Plays the run well. Shows good awareness on the backend and enough speed to cover ground. Can be used to cover TEs.

I read good things about that Martin fellow, more than I would expect for a guy who keeps getting mocked in late rounds or not at all. I approve of drafting him.

It also seems like Tuten would be a good fit, though I also read good things about Monangai as a later-round running back if Tuten goes earlier than we'd like.

I do appreciate the folks that bother to put thought into the 7th round.

Man, I just can't bring myself to bother this year.

I do like Nick Martin as a 7th rounder though. Seems to make more sense to snag guys like this on the 3rd day and/or UDFA than it does to pay Jack Cochrane $3+ million/season...

I'm seeing Martin projected in the mid-5th. Don't think he's there at the end of 7.

I like Tuten a ton, but two backs I don't see KC drafting are him and Blue. Reid hates fumblers. HATES them. I've fallen off that projection.

You can already guess my feelings on Simmons.

The rest I like, sans Prather. I don't dislike Prather myself, but I just don't know if he fits Reid's style. Maybe, you never know. They have been looking at a slew of taller WRs this year.

This is why I'm just not putting any effort into day 3 this year.

With no picks in 5 or 6 (though I do think Veach changes that somehow and I think the Thuney pick is that 'how'), there's just SO much variance in teams draft board on that 3rd day that it's a complete crapshoot.

I'd do it anyway if I had done the CP mock but I got out of the habit of it last year and then it filled up before I saw your PM. In either event, it's just damn tough to gear myself up to look that deep into things when there's just no way of knowing who's coming off the board in the 100 or so picks between our 4th and our 7th.
