Mock Draft 4/4/2025

I'll give you guys a different spin than my normal flavor for shits and giggles. This one focuses more on the defense and ignores LT.

Mock Draft
1-031: DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan (6'4" 331)
Solidifies the NT position next to Chris Jones
2-052: DE J.T. Tuimoloau, Ohio State (6'4" 265)
Make a move to get value on a top-tier power rusher type that Spags loves
KC trades 2-63, 3-66, 2026 4th f/CHI to SEA for 2-52, 3-82, 5-172
3-082: RB Bhayshul Tuten, Virginia Tech (5'9" 206)
Electric do-it-all RB who can contribute big in the passing game
3-095: RT Emery Jones, Jr., LSU (6'5" 315)
Athletic RT prospect to develop behind Taylor for a year before taking over
4-133: LB Jeffrey Bassa, Oregon (6'1" 232)
Quality cover LB that can step in as a weakside replacement for Tranquil
5-172: WR Elijah Badger, Florida (6'1" 200)
Solid all-around WR that can play inside or outside as a D-Rob type
7-226: DB Shamari Simmons, Arizona State (6'0" 195)
Physical nickel/safety hybrid type that will be an asset on special teams
7-251: CB Jonathan Edwards, Tulane (6'1" 203)
Future outside corner prospect with some speed and physicality to his game
7-256: OT Esa Pole, Washington State (6'5" 320)
A stash and develop guy, likely at OG

Nasty defense and a running back with elite burst.

A lot to like here.

Love it. That's a home run draft in my view.

Would also love this. Trying to nitpick, maybe there's a safety with range I could find but nah, this is about as good as it gets

With this draft, and after FA, we'd be:

- LT - Better than last year
- RT - Better for depth
- LB - Better in coverage
- WR - Better starters given the lack of injuries, and better depth
- RB - Much better
- DT - Much better
- DE - Quite a lot better
- CB - Better

We're worse at LG and maybe safety and everywhere else we improve. I'd take that all day.

Love it. I just think this is a draft where you want grab Dline talent early then an electric back like Tuten. He's exactly what we need.

I used consensus rankings for this one but I'm not sure it's actually real. I think JT would have to go to us in round 1 and a different DT in round 2. Maybe Collins or Farmer. I do think a similar trade up may be necessary to get Collins though so it's not all a lost exercise for me.

I've come around to really liking Emery Jones as a RT project.

I've programmed myself into believing we need two playmakers with our first three picks, but your mock is WAY more levelheaded than mine would be and makes way more sense (and it just feels like a Chiefs draft, honestly).

The Jones pick throws me a little, but I'll defer to your knowledge on linemen with that pick. I dig that you went with a coverage linebacker (we are short on these; I feel Tranquil regressed in this area and that isn't Chenal's forte) and a solid 3/4 receiver, and the two DBs in the 7th probably has Veach's blood moving just thinking about it, lol. I'd be really happy if it went down like this.
