Chiefs Unpopular Thought: Trade McDuffie

The Chiefs latest dynasty run was a direct product of the Tyreek trade. Now money is tight, draft resources are slim, and the young players from Veach's great recent drafts are getting to the age to be paid so will be leaving soon. And that's aside from the glaring need for a franchise LT.

Any chance we could get back what makes it worthwhile to give him up this offseason?

Yea, with Kelce and Jones getting up there, one possibly retiring, it would be REALLY smart to trade away a blue chipper still on a rookie deal.

The reason the Tyreek trade worked was because we got McDuffie.

Besides Mahomes, no one is untradeable.

That said, you wouldn’t get the haul you’d need to justify this one.

He’s one DB. The assets the Chiefs would need to make sense of it wouldn’t make sense to the other team.

McDuffie is the best player on the defense, and that includes Jones. He and Mahomes are the only two guys who should be trade-proof.

Buffalo hasn’t drafted a great player in multiple years.

Kansas City has gotten at least one in each of the previous three drafts.

Low key I think Hicks might be one of those guys too. Just a gut feeling that he's going to take a huge step forward next year.

It isn’t the craziest idea. If we want to rebuild then trading away blue chippers can go a very long way. We only get one more year of his cheap contract and then he’s going to get crazy expensive. And this is a position where the chiefs have been exceptional at finding quality players.

Keep in mind that arguably a big reason we ended up with mcduffie in the first place is because we traded tyreek hill. He’s kind of the only trade chip that could actually haul anything

Now -- if you want to get a little nuts, you call up Harbaugh. He has a ready replacement in Joe Alt.

Would you consider McDuffie for Slater? Would they?

But that's it. That's the end of the list. I'm not moving him for a WR. The Lions aren't moving Hutchison for him (and who knows how his leg will bounce back). I don't know how Micah would fit here and know exactly how McDuffie does.

The list is really really REALLY short. And not at all likely to go anywhere. No, I'm not moving him for draft picks and cap relief.
