SI Article: Chiefs need to change from efficient to explosive on offense
Can’t they be both… efficiently explosive?

The Chiefs should just average 50 points per game, and the defense should allow 3 points per game. Problem solved, it's simple math.

We spent a 1st round pick on an explosive playmaker but spent much of the season throwing him 2 yard passes.

Wholly agree. And I didn't at first. But if you think about it Patrick hasn't looked like he's having fun on the sidelines since Tyreek left. He's got that killer in him. He wants to hunt and run the dagger through his opponents. They've transformed him into Andys ideal QB. He runs the system 99% of the time and will pull a rabbit out of the hat once a game to save the day, but then lay back down. Dude wants to rip it imo. He wants to wow.
Edit: I'd like to say it doesn't have to be bombs away, but it seems to me he's tired of playing not to lose instead of just playing to win. Let him cook.

Been thinking this for a couple years now. The writing's been on the wall for at least that long.
Hopefully we draft at least one more quality WR in the first round, or two, and maybe a future replacement for Travis.

They literally just need a left tackle and a RB
![]() Teams aren't gonna just let us be explosive. Still gonna see looks that stop it.

There were plays to be made with guys running wide open at 20 yards deep against the Eagles if we had an extra second or so in pass protection.

Chiefs: Lose their first playoff game in 3 years.
Everybody: They should obviously change everything they do, it's clearly not working.

It needs to go two ways. Veach tried to give him his speed guys. But mahomes needs to prove he can consistently hit it, and Reid needs to trust him to hit it, and sometimes you see these guys go back and force between trust and distrust.
Then on top of that… Hollywoods injury to me was a huge blow to getting mahomes back on track. And then the struggles on the OL definitely didn’t help. Of course losing rashee hurt us but early in the season we saw Mahomes kind of tunnel vision on to him for short catch and run. We need the right personnel consistently long enough for Mahomes to make mistakes. And we need the patience to make mistakes so he can get better. And i feel like we’ve been missing those ingredients |

Being explosive on offense has been talked about forever, about 75% of it not being explosive this year is injuries though so it's not like they need completely new personnel.

The only part of the team that has consistently sucked ass throughout the Mahomes era is the OL.
All the WRs in the world won't help if Mahomes isn't upright. |
