Couch’s Pre-Super Bowl Mock Draft
Resign:
OG Smith, DE Omenihu, WR Brown, OT Humphries, QB Wentz, RB Hunt+ other minor deals.
*I’m prioritizing Smith over everyone else, since entering the league only Thuney has a higher avg PFF rating. Restructuring or extending a couple contracts to pay for the rest.
FA:
LB Bobby Wagner + RB Nick Chubb
*Wagner’s older, but 1/3rd cheaper and outperformed Bolton this season per PFF. Nick Chubb’s also older, but was ranked as a top 5 RB in a survey of NFL coaches last season (before he returned) and might have some juice left we can harvest in KC.
Trade:
RB Pachecco + #62 to CAR for 2.57 & 5.141
*Meh, he’s never been that great just one of Veach’s really solid value picks. If he has any value, why not move him?
Draft:
1. DL Harmon #32
*Unclear if he’ll fall to us but his 17.6% pass rush % from the inside would be awesome next to Chris Jones!
2. RB Henderson #57
*We need a solid 3rd down back and a successor to Pachecco.
3.a DE David Walker #66
*There are a few pass rush specialists with high sack numbers in this draft, but Walker has better size than most of them and falls to us after playing for a smaller program in college. Insurance for FAU’s limited development.
3.b WR Tory Horton #96
*He was injured this year, but feels like a steal to me at his current projection. 1k+ seasons every year he played, size and speed, what’s there not to like and why isn’t he projected higher?
5.a OT Logan Brown #141
*Do we have a 4th or 5th? Anyways, If there’s no immediate starting options in the 1st, I don’t think Humphries would be the worst stop gap. I can’t understand why Brown’s projected so low in the draft. Sure, he’s got Type 1 Diabetes, but credited with zero sacks and only 6 hurries last season. Has size and athleticism. I’m throwing him into the mix for competition at either OT spot in the coming years.
5.b CB Nole Williams #169
*Great size, had 7 interceptions last season and we could use some ballhawks in our secondary.
7.a LB Cody Lindenberg #232
*Had some injuries in college, but is apparently healthy now and shined in Sr Bowl practices. Described as a “ballhawk” by the coaching staff after the Sr Bowl concluded
7.b S Shilo Sanders #257
*He has the pedigree, Draftbuzz believes he has enough talent to be a top 5 Safety in this draft if he eventually reaches his full potential.
