Buffalo Bills Dalton Kincaid's attempted catch not as easy as represented.

When we all saw the many replays of Kincaid not making the catch on that crazy Josh Allen pass, we equated it to the Raven's Mark Andrews drop and nothing could be farther from the truth.

Last night, no highlights really captured what happened.

Today on NFL live, the play was shown from above and it was incredibly difficult based on what happened.

Kincaid was running downfield angling towards the sidelines in a northeast direction from the line of scrimmage. As the play quickly broke down, Kincaid jammed on the breaks and in a split second surrounded by 4 Chief's defenders made a 180° turn in the opposite direction to try and catch the ball. He had almost no time to make the decision but by going back in a southwest direction, his angle to the ball was now too far forward and the ball traveled just a little further than his arms.

Was the ball catchable? Yes
Was it an easy diving catch? Hell no

Seeing the play from a drone view directly above really provided the best perspective. The ground view was too simplistic.

Thank God he was slightly off.....

Any time you throw a deep ball, there’s a major risk of failure. So much can go wrong. Even on short passing plays, we see crap go wrong (Mark Andrews). You just never know. That’s why I hate the deep ball on 3rd or 4th down if you only need a few yards.

Only the stooges would think that was an easy catch.

The fact that he came close was impressive actually.

Good OP and I agree with most of it. My only issue is, did people really equate it to Andrews who dropped a 2 yard pass that hit him squarely in both hands?

Not many but it kept popping up on how two great receivers pooched it in the biggest moment.

Andrews had a much worse day with the fumble and drop.

If he was charged with a drop on that pass while he was horizontal to the ground and got a hand on it, it needs to be revisited. That was a hell of an effort just to get a hand on it.

Agreed, that was a pretty tall order given the circumstances. Would have been amazing and horrible and awful had he pulled it in.

Of course, I'm sure he thinks he should have caught it. That shit will likely haunt him forever.

Most likely. That is a theme (an accurate one) I’m starting to hear more and more media admit:

In the biggest moments and the toughest circumstances, Chiefs players just always make the necessary play.
