PFF: Poor game from Fisher

Yup. Very poor game.

I’m not in the business of making excuses for someone, but how bad is the hand of Eric Fisher (-4.5)? I ask because his performance was of such a level and he seemed to be favoring his hand so often, that the question had to be asked: are the Chiefs doing the right thing getting him game time as opposed to letting him heal?

He had to leave the field after Will Tukuafu got the better of him with 4:05 to go in the first and yet he would return to finish out the first half. That wasn’t the only time he struggled as Ray McDonald was too powerful for him at the point of attack on the opening drive, having no problem working on his inside shoulder and getting off his blocking attempts.

In pass protection, Parys Haralson (hurry and sack), Corey Lemonier (hurry) and Ahmad Brooks (hurry with an assist from some hands to the face) all got past him, while he failed on two occasions to execute cut blocks on stretch runs.

More is expected of the first overall pick.

Not one single person on this forum finds worth in any of your posts, Maverick.

And very, very soon, your lovey Alex will be almost universally hated on this forum.

He is playing out of position. If they asked Eric Berry to play OLB his rookie year he'd have probably sucked too. Then every body would have declared Berry a bust and he'd be playing for the ravens right now. Chiefs fans aren't the brightest.

Sorry I trust Reid's judgment on this.

One of the main reasons they said he was "the" pick was his toughness and competitiveness. Doesn't sound like confidence is an issue.

I just think there is massive over reaction going on.
I can guarantee that players both on the Chiefs roster and other teams are using Fisher for personal means. Not necessarily because they think he's something to be exploited (although that's speculative and I'm sure some have evaluated film and had their own experiences to use as insight) but rather as tool to build a name for themselves and impress coaches(their own and across the league if they are attempting to make a roster).

The differences between playing RT/LT are far less vast than those of a SS from a Tampa 2 base philosophy to that of a 3-4 OLB from Parcells' tree.

Do you think it is more the position change, or the change of competition?

Switching to RT doesn't happen overnight. That's like saying a first baseman should be able to play third base right away.

I believe i had a somewhat lengthy discussion with laz on the subject but both are needed to take into consideration.

People definitely underestimate (or are unaware/don't understand the significance)the value of multiple (bordering on excessive) reps required for muscle memory and fluidity in live situations.

With all players drafted, there's going to be a learning curve. When you ask players to switch positions, it typically increases although there are some freaks who just pick it up effortlessly. This is not the norm and struggles should be expected. The extent of those struggles, what they are specifically, and the frequency that they occur are also varied and differ from person to person. This isn't even taking into account other variables such as coaching personnel, philosophies/schemes/principles, etc.

My knowledge of baseball is so limited that I have no idea whether or not this comparison is accurate, so I have to defer judgement to others.

Welbourn was allowed to leave and his play fell off a cliff as soon as he couldn't roid up anymore. You want to count that as a good pick? I guess. The guy wasn't retained by Reid and etired early because he was a CHEATER.

Shawn Andrews? Hahahaha. Isn't that the guy that ate himself out of the league a few years after getting drafted and got injured a couple times? The guy that got moved from OT to OG? (not 100% on the moved to guard part...working off fuzzy memory on that one.)

Yeah, great pick there.

I really hope Eric Fisher can attain that level of greatness.

In case you didn't notice (because your reading comprehwnsions is about as bad as it gets on this site) I said OFFENSIVE LINEMEN PICKS...not sure why you listed a bunch of good picks (that were all skill position players that I am arguing as that is what should have been done with the top pick in the draft)

I would have been excited if we had chosen Tavon Austin. I've said that hundreds of times.

NOBODY has said a word about confidence.

JFC.

Learn to read and go to sleep. You are embarrassing yourself.

I DID SAY that if he is INJURED that they should sit him and let the injury heal because he isn't helping himself getting destroyed out there because he wants to play with an injury.

It's one of two things:

1) he is INJURED and should sit and let it heal until he is up to full strength

2) he is HURT and people should stop using it as an excuse.

Can't have it both ways.

Not true. Everything is is oppisite. Harder still since he is right handed. He has been taught to use his dominent side inside. Now its to the outside. It cimes into play in all facets of blocking, especially pass protection. Fish has quick feet or the coaches would never attempt it. Many can't make the switch.
