I can tell you that if I were Andy Reid (who just happens to own a home in San Diego, which is a 45 minute or so flight from Phoenix), I'd chose Arizona over Kansas City because they're closer to competing for a playoff spot. |

Christ, Clark could have been doing him a favor by letting him meet with Dimitroff about a job. I'm not sure what people can't grasp about this - Clark is trying to negotiate a buyout - that takes time. If he wasn't, he would have already fired him. In the meantime, he's been neutered of his power and depantsed publicly. What exactly has Clark done differently than he explained on Monday. The search process started immediately. HE will be picking the next HC. He can do that with or without Pioli in the room, and still not go against his word. |

Neither team has a QB, so it's basically a push.

Sorry, there's no way to spin Pioli's presence in any legitimate interview for a HC as a positive. It's not. It's a sign of weakness and incompetence on Hunt's part.

Put him in the basement like Milton from office space, hand him a can of Raid, and explain about the roach problem.

610 is talking with Kevin Lockett about coaches. Huh? Why?

For Reid, it'll all come down to comfort level. The guy will have plenty of options when it's all said and done. |

Pros:
-Very good preparation coach. Puts together good game plans and has his players ready to go. Biggest example of this is he never lost after the bye week up until this year. However, he is not a good adjustment coach at all(I'll get to this in the cons) -Straight shooter. Does not throw his players under the bus. Sticks up for his players at all times and his players love him. The players quit on him this year, but that is because they compiled a team full of heartless bums. Up until this season, Andy Reid's best records are in the latter months of the seasons. Teams typically play hard for him until the end. They respect him. So worrying about players not taking him seriously will not be a problem. -Got into it a bit above, but Andy Reid is a strong finisher. His teams get better as the seasons go on. If a team starts off slow in September, he always keeps them working hard to improve. -He's good at finding what is wrong and fixing it. Even in the doldrums of a bad season. I can't tell you how many times he duct taped together what looked like a hopeless roster. -Even keel coach. Never lets the team get too down on themselves or too high(although sometimes this works as a negative. I'll get into it in the cons). -Good at developing QBs. Has won consistently for most of his career with backups when McNabb went down. Is good at adjusting the offense to fit backup QBs. -His teams for the most part score points. This year the offense sucked, but it was ravaged by injuries, and this season was pretty much a lost cause from very early on. More of an anomaly than anything. Cons: -Not a good adjustment coach at all. When his game plan goes awry, he has trouble going to plan b. This frustrated a lot of Eagles fans. If you get Reid, hope the game plan he has going into Sunday works, because if not you'll be in trouble. -Seems to get conservative in big games. Coaches tight in big games. It seemed to rub off on players. Teams seemed to come out flat in big games. Many people in Philadelphia suspected it was the even keel attitude and that it came back to bite the players. They weren't amped up enough in the bigger games. -Often neglects certain positions because they aren't "high value" positions. Neglected WR until 2004 and neglected LB almost his entire tenure. He has certain positions he values like offensive line and defensive line. Others he refuses to draft highly or spend a lot of money on. Flat out refuses. -Gives you absolutely nothing through the media. His players respect it, but fans hate it. He spits out the same cliches every game. "I gotta do a better job" and "I have to put the players in better positions to make plays" are said after every single loss. Every one. Fans here grew so tired of it. He'll never explain what went wrong after losses. Cookie cutter answers. -Not the best talent evaluator -I'm sure you all know this, but often abandons the run and never goes back. He tends to only run when he has a lead. Although he does run the ball more with backup QBs. Which frustrated to many Eagles fans. Why run with your backup, but not your starter? -Poor clock management. Andy Reid teams suck in the 2 min drill, end of halves, end of games. Poor usage of timeouts as well. Also, not a good challenger. -Red zone woes late in his Eagles coaching tenure. Had a lot of trouble finding a way to get into the end zone Overall he is a good to a very good coach, but has too many flaws to be great. He knows what he wants to do and has a good idea of how to build a competitive team, but I'm not sure he is a Superbowl caliber coach. Heis very stubborn in certain areas and just refuses to change. In some respects, that helps him, but it hurts him in others. I have no doubts he would improve your franchise, but he may get you close, but not over the hump. |
