Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

Anyone who argues for Billick but against Cowher is being grossly contradictory in my view.
I am arguing "for" Billick ONLY in the context of talking about Gruden, Cowher, Billick, et al.

If forced to choose between Cowher and Billick, I will take Billick. I would PREFER something different altogether though.

I'd prefer Andy Reid over any SB winning coach.

History says they won't win here.

Further proof that the system isn't nearly as important as the man himself.

Billick, Cowher or whomever won't fix this team, only a Qb will.

you are essentially arguing for against the 5 or so candiates that fit Clarks criteria, unless Clark was blowing smoke, which I doubt.

and that leaves like 5 or 6 guys out there if that, that can do what Clark wants. So essentially pick one, because that's what we are going to get

The directive is no one from the football operations side is to speak until their final notice has been given either with a termination or a return.

Clark is trying to force Pioli's hand and have him quit. Clark had a heated discussion with Scott this morning according to this email. Clark told him he won't have any say in this head coach because "this head coach will be here longer than you will".

Then there's this piece of info. Clark talked with Peyton Manning at length Sunday night. He wanted to know why the Chiefs weren't considered and everything Peyton said pointed the finger squarely on Pioli. Said Pioli's rep across the league is terrible. His inability to foster a "team" environment instead of one ruled like a dictator was huge too.

This really pissed Clark off. I said in a previous post that the loss could have triggered all of this, but it's apparent the PM discussion could have as well.

I'm completely shocked to say the least. Everything, and I mean everything, I've been told paints Clark as someone with a school boy crush on Pioli.

Clark wants to make a splash. He also wants to save the money from just firing Pioli. With all the lawsuits that former employees have pending against the Chiefs that list Pioli, Clark may have a case to fire him with definite cause.

Source said that Clark changed overnight toward Pioli.

Take it for what it's worth.

Watch Clark in the interview with Holtus. Clark makes comments about how the games were tough on him because of the product put on the field.

There's no ****ing way Pioli comes back. If he does, he's going to have the organization power of a scout.

I have no clue how one can look at the resumes of these two coaches and come to conclusion that Billick would be the better choice. Dude didn't even win a playoff game after year 2.

According to Chris Hanson of NFLN, Pioli's buyout is $7.5M.

Christ, Clark, you wasted that much money on half a season of Stanford Routt.

Pull the ****ing trigger and be done with it.

Jesus, he'll spend half of that in legal fees.

Pretty much this is what it has come down too. A HC is only as good as his QB save rare instances like Jim Harbaugh who came 1 shy with Alex Smith

You cant win with this crowd. No matter what Clark does he is ****ing up.

Unless Clark comes on here and puts a poll for every decision it wont work, and even then, it wont work.
