"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

Great info. Bad Guy. I agree that contractual issues are likely delaying any direct comment about Pioli.

Clark isn't letting him speak. Literally. And people think he might be back? Nonsensical at best.

he hinted at it getting war games like messy between Pioli and Haley, made it clear he doesnt want that. It's not about paying or not paying. It's about when you fire a guy, you shouldnt have lingering problems or loopholes in your organization that gives the guy a chance to have a pending lawsuit against you.

If Clark communicated with the coach more, he feels he could prevent garbage like that.

Essentially Pioli sucks is the moral to all of this. Not about paying or going to court. It just seems Clark has hated the last 4 years behind the scenes just as much as we have had the product on our televison.

I wish someone would or could write a tell all book of the last four years of the Chiefs/Pioli behind closed doors. I'd love to see how many of these rumors or stories are actually true crazy accounts that happened.

Clark has neutered him. There's no way he comes back.

Not only has he neutered him, he's trying to embarrass him.

Watch Clark in the interview with Holtus. Clark makes comments about how the games were tough on him because of the product put on the field.

There's no ****ing way Pioli comes back. If he does, he's going to have the organization power of a scout.

I'd be fine with Billick. He's a smart guy who understands the game. And there's no way Pioli stays on with him.

Any chance Brian Kelly goes to the pros? He fits the definition in terms of building a winning program wherever he's gone. He produces tough teams and shows adaptability. I'd probably put his odds of coming to the NFL this year at less than 5%, though.

Chip Kelly has the high football IQ. That would be fun.

Reid is probably a pretty good bet to get a look, too. Although I'd prefer the top 3 I posted, and even Cowher over Reid.
