Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

*sigh* It's going to be a shame to have wasted 22 of my 27 years on this earth rooting for this team. Make the right decision Clark.

If its Reid or Cowher, you know they'll fire Scott. I am happy.

If it's Koetter and he keeps Pioli, I have free Sundays in the fall. I am happy. Same deal if Clark is just flat out lying.
Sad that it's come to this.

You're happy with basically anyone as long as Pioli is gone. That's a recipe for the last 4 years to happen all over again.

Bad girlfriend, indeed.

I heard that on Petro's show, as well.

The Cleveland radio guy he was talking to threw out the idea of Cleveland offering Nick Saban 10 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to come coach there. Fan-****ing-tastic. Let Belichick's minions have a nice little reunion in Cleveland. Good place for them.

What a thing to hang over a coach interviewing for a head coach position, whether to retain the dude that pretty much destroyed the franchise in 4 years. What the hell would you say in the interview when asked?

I think we could take up a collection here to help pay his salary if he leaves.

I'd like to see Cower as the HC. But I would stipulate that he does not try to be one of the coordinators also, that has failed with the last two head coaches.

I'd also like to see Schottenheimer as the GM, that way his aggressive style during the season and the extremely conservative approach to the playoffs won't impact the team.

I'd also like to see Al Saunders as the offensive coordinator.

Whom ever we pick for a QB needs to have the option to change the plays at the line ala Manning in Denver. Running a play just because it's what the coordinator called isn't always successful.

Whoever we get as a defensive coordinator needs to be a mean nasty person that will not accept poor performances.

I would volunteer for none of the positions and I would recommend none of my choices be taken. I would rather have someone that actually knows what is going on in the NFL that is a leader at heart and a win at all costs type in all positions that are going to be open.

Clark needs to pull the trigger on Pioli before he screws up any more picks for the Chiefs.

There would be no war. They came into the NFL ranks with Belichick in Cleveland. They are both part of the "tree".

Great point on 610 - can we trust a guy that can't fire Scott Pioli - a guy with this body of work, who basically brought the organization to the depths of hell with his bullshit?
I'd like to add, this team has set some of the worst historical franchise records under his reign.

If I was the owner of this team; that would set the icing on the cake for me to fire a GM.

*You said it well, Clark is gutless. Thinking about a decision as to whether or not he should fire an incompetent GM is his way of dodging around his own fear.
