Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

you know I disagree about Belichick only being successful because of Brady

I think Brady has allowed him to "think outside the box" and be able to try things because he has an elite QB...

but lets not forget that 5 years ago Mecca and the drafturbator posse told all of us Tony Gonzalez fans that TE was merely a "luxury" position and that signing one to a big contract is stupid and worthless...

yet Belichick redefined that position and made it a MUST HAVE and built an entire offense around two elite tight ends...

he also used a variation of the Urban Meyer spread the year the Pats went ballistic and went 18-1

now he uses a little Chip Kelly offense

saying the dude is only successful because of Brady is ridiculous. Their first Super Bowl Tom Brady was nothing more than a game manager. Yes, the stars aligned and there was spygate, but they won a Super Bowl in which they were 14 point underdogs.

I'm pretty sure Bill Belichick is the best coach I've ever witnessed.

Holy ****, some of you will rationalize anything.
Until I hear the words that he is extended, I'm not going to overreact. He waited a really, really, really long time to hire Romeo and fire herm (even when we knew he was definitely gone). Hunt is many things, but he is historically very thorough. Don't get me wrong, if he keeps pioli, I will be furious.

He's being payed, handsomely, to be the GM. If you do what you just said, then it's all about the money and not winning, therefor I shouldn't give a shit.
Clark Hunt and Pioli are apparently friends. If I were the owner, I'd just cut his ass, but if Hunt just cant bring himself to do that right now, I'll settle for stripping Pioli of his control over the team and paying him to keep the candy wrappers picked up around Arrowhead and other useless nonsense.

No, it's people being over reactionary. Bellichick is one hell of a coach. He will be a hell of a coach after Brady is gone too. But the patriot way only works in new England. Bellichick adapted to the changing game. If anything, the shitty success of his staff outside of new England says even more about how good the guy is.

He doesn't have to be extended - he's under contract.

You won't hear anything.

Clark's "thoroughness" is part of the reason we're in this mess to begin with.

January isn't the time to be doing your homework. That should have been done when this team was 1-8.

Maybe Clark should grow the **** up, take control of his franchise and make these decisions for himself.

Why say anything at all, then?

If you were 100% for sure keeping Pioli, you wouldn't answer any questions or say a damned thing, you'd just let the passage of time dull everyone's memory and fury. If you wanted to keep Pioli and let him keep full control over the team, then this statement was not very smart.
