A better, more accurate 2012 Slogan: It is Finally Next Year

With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore.

We do not have starting pitching.

Oh yeah, we've also got this:

Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

I thought "Our Time" was a stupid ploy by the marketing department all along.

I've never believed they were going to really contend this year without tremendous good luck, and the Royals' luck this season has been the opposite.

That's Jeff Francouer's line since the All-Star break. At least before the break, he was just the worst current everyday player in baseball. Now... he's making a run at history.

Bright side: his K percentage is only 20 percent, which is much lower than I expected.

And people wonder why the offense isn’t producing runs. It seems every time we get an opportunity, its either Frenchy or Yuni coming up to bat.

The offense actually has produced at a fairly decent clip in July. Which is amazing, considering the black holes those two have been at the plate.

Wil Myers has 2 more RBI from driving himself in (i.e., hitting a HR) than Francouer has on the SEASON.

But instead of being truthful with us, DM and the rest of the Royals' cronies will try to insult us and attempt to make an argument as to why Myers shouldn't be called up in Frenchy's place.

It's an absolute joke and a 100% indictment of this franchise and their management.

Come to think of it, I have some great end of season marketing ideas for the Royals. How about:

Royals Flashlight Night: So you can see your way around in the basement.
Royals Beck Concert Night: He promises to sing "I'm a Loser" over and over.
Royals Hand Vacuum Night: Nothing sucks like a vacuum and the Royals.
Royals "Kick a Cripple" Night: Finally feel the joy our visitors feel!
Royals Titanic Night: Get a model of the famous sinking ship.

And I suggest they make the team line up in front of the dugout for the "I've Got Friends In Low Places" sing-along. They should have to sing it by themselves.

Wow, I had no idea that's where Toby Cook ended up. I used to know that guy pretty well. I'm not sure how I feel about him being with the Royals.
