Peyton “looked real good” throwing to new Broncos teammates

Peyton “looked real good” throwing to new Broncos teammates
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 26, 2012, 3:53 PM EDT

As he settles in with the Broncos, Peyton Manning is learning the rules of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, including that he can work out with teammates, but only away from the team’s facilities and outside the watchful eyes of the coaches. And that’s exactly what Manning did today.

Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post reports that Manning took snaps from center J.D. Walton and threw passes to wide receiver Eric Decker and tight end Julius Thomas during a session at a Denver-area high school, and afterward Decker said he liked what he saw.

“He looked real good, though he probably won’t admit that he’s feeling good or feeling back to the way he wants to be,” Decker said.

Decker said Manning is trying to get comfortable with his new teammates now, and that the players who were on the roster last year are talking to him about the offensive concepts the Broncos employed — even though the offense will be quite a bit different with Manning running it in 2012.

“Just some drill work, talking through stuff, so he gets familiar with the verbage and the calls,” Decker said. “The biggest thing is he wanted to get a feel for us, and a feel for being under center.”

The Denver Post published 23 photos from today’s session. To the extent that you can tell anything from a still photo of a guy throwing a pass in sweats and a T-shirt, Manning looks pretty much like he has always looked.

--------------------------------------------

He looks pretty thin to me...not that I've looked at any comparison pictures.

I'm not trolling. I don't think they are. They had Weis, Crennel, and Haley in 2010 and have Crennel and Daboll now.

The Chiefs are better at WR now with Breaston but I'm not sold on Baldwin.

The Chiefs are better at RT but have a lot of young guys on the interior of the OL.

The defense is pretty much the same minus Carr...

I don't see a significant improvement. I see the same team.
1.WR is vastly improved. Breaston and Baldwin are huge improvements.
2.Winston is obviously better.
3.Peyton Hillis is hands down better than Thomas Jones and it's not close.
4.Justin Houstin is also hands down better than Vrabel in both run defense and the pass rush.
5. DJ and Tamba had their best years as a pro last season. They are better then they were in 2010.
6. Losing Carr hurts, but in 2010 Carr wasn't a finished product yet til the end of the season. Let us remember that in 2010 Routt was just as good as Carr at the 2 spot.
7. Allen Bailey and Dontari Poe will easily be better than Shaun Ballgrabber Smith.
8. 2012 team is much deeper than 2010. Guys like Kevin Boss, Jeff Allen, Tony Ugoh, Abram Elam, Jalil Brown, Ricky Stanzi/Brady Quinn, Allen Bailey, and Amon Gordon give this team some great insurance in case of injury.
8. Key playmakers like Kendrick Lewis, Tyson Jackson, Branden Albert, Javier Arenas, and Brandon Flowers are far more developed players than they were in 2010.

The only thing the 2010 team had that was better was a great OC. That's it.

I pretty much agree with everything on this list except #6......I think ROutt will be a downgrade, but hopefully not too much.

Also, #1 could be really shitty if D.Bowe does something stupid like say V.jackson and holds out.

TE should be good too, with Moe and Boss...

You left out our hugely improved FB position 8-)

Yup and that great OC. Got his shit pushed in in the play offs. Outside of that Charles run. It was as bad as I have ever seen.

Weiss left before the playoff game, IIRC.

Both Hali and Flowers were significantly better in 2010 than they were in 2011. In Hali's case, it's not even close. Hali played out of his mind in 2010.

Ahh.I seem to remember him not calling the plays, but hell, I dont want to remember that game...

Even the Raiders game before that was terrible.

You can make a case for Flowers but not Tamba. Tamba was much better against the run in 2011 than any year he's played.

Bunkley->Bannan -15.3

I'm very excited for this season.
Manning was that much higher than tebow in a season he DIDN'T PLAY?

Maybe it was just me, but it seems Hali got held a **** ton last season. I'm sure teams keyed up on him more last year than in 2010. Hopefully Houston continues to improve and teams won't be able to do that as much. Because before Houston emerged, Hali was our ONLY pass rusher worth a shit.
