Peyton “looked real good” throwing to new Broncos teammates

Peyton “looked real good” throwing to new Broncos teammates
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 26, 2012, 3:53 PM EDT

As he settles in with the Broncos, Peyton Manning is learning the rules of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, including that he can work out with teammates, but only away from the team’s facilities and outside the watchful eyes of the coaches. And that’s exactly what Manning did today.

Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post reports that Manning took snaps from center J.D. Walton and threw passes to wide receiver Eric Decker and tight end Julius Thomas during a session at a Denver-area high school, and afterward Decker said he liked what he saw.

“He looked real good, though he probably won’t admit that he’s feeling good or feeling back to the way he wants to be,” Decker said.

Decker said Manning is trying to get comfortable with his new teammates now, and that the players who were on the roster last year are talking to him about the offensive concepts the Broncos employed — even though the offense will be quite a bit different with Manning running it in 2012.

“Just some drill work, talking through stuff, so he gets familiar with the verbage and the calls,” Decker said. “The biggest thing is he wanted to get a feel for us, and a feel for being under center.”

The Denver Post published 23 photos from today’s session. To the extent that you can tell anything from a still photo of a guy throwing a pass in sweats and a T-shirt, Manning looks pretty much like he has always looked.

--------------------------------------------

He looks pretty thin to me...not that I've looked at any comparison pictures.

New HC

They lost Eric Carr and replaced him with the lead league penalty CB

Nobody knows exactly how well Charles is recovering-it appears Berry is on a faster recovering track than Charles

But as was mentioned before- The Chiefs defense was actually better last year when Berry was out than it was when he was playing in 2010

Much tougher schedule

To many question marks on the coaching staff

And finally

Matt Cassell -

I'd be surprised if the Chiefs won 2 of their 1st 6 games- that's a brutal 6 game stretch- I think the writers of KC will go to town on that team by week 7.. calling for Stanzi, is Crennell "over his head"?? etc.. they'll have a field day with the Chiefs in the press and it might take the wind outta that team by week 7 to effectively rebound by then

1-5 heading into the bye
- Rodney Hudson is not a rookie. He played some last year. And he actually played better than Weigman.

- Eric Carr? I didn't realize the former Kiss drummer was a free agent. But seriously, yeah, that could be an issue. I think it's a drop in talent, but not as much as some may believe.

- Chiefs defense got into a groove down the stretch of the season last year, but they were terrible early on. And even in November against Denver, they were not good. Making Houston the starter was a major improvement. Also, remember that Berry was a rookie in 2010. He is a veteran now and that should only help, IMO. Still, I would like to see a statistical comparison to prove that you're not just talking out of your butt.

- I would agree about the question marks on the coaching staff. But I don't believe anyone (not you or anybody else) knows for sure how that's gonna work out. So that's not a real argument, IMO.

4 winning teams out of 32 games? How is that even possible?

I did the same for the 2011 Broncos vs 2012 Broncos:

Tebow->Manning +44
Fells->Dreessen +23.2
Bunkley->Bannan -15.3

I'm very excited for this season.

Manning can't comeback from injury but Charles, Moaki, and Berry can. Makes sense.

Recovering from an ACL tear in your early 20s>> recovering from 4(or was it 5?) neck surgeries in your late 30s

It's not his neck that is even a possible problem. It's his arm strength that is the issue, due to the pinched nerve. The nerve didn't get pinched in the 2010-2011 offseason, Manning has actually been playing with the pinched nerve since probably 2009. Pretending that he will play worse now that he has had the issue addressed than he did when it was bothering him the most is silly.

This has already been covered in another thread. Billay is trying to be OTWP who is the person who originally made that statement.

Fixing the site of the problem doesn't ensure that the nerve will regenerate and function at 100% again.

Watch the video. The neck is not an issue. He will not suffer a neck injury. The only concern was nerve regeneration. The nerves have regenerated. Peyton Manning is back.
