With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore.

We do not have starting pitching.

Oh yeah, we've also got this:



Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

If you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. He would be an upgrade over both, for sure. Moore must believe he can flip Frenchy for prospects???

Well, they owe Frenchy $13 million. so, they leave Meyers down in the minors this year, bring him up next year maybe, and get some mileage out of the money they gave Frenchy. We're not going anywhere this year anyway, so why would the Glass family care? Why let the kid start to get good? He'll just cost more sooner.

The contract given to Dayton's son is an albatross, no question, but there is absolutely no defending the play of Jarrod ****ing Dyson, who is one of the worst CFers that I've seen in a long time. Abysmal at the plate and a severe liability in CF.

We've seen Dyson before; his name then was Joey Gathright. The difference is that Gathright was better. See: stats.

That is indeed a fair argument, since we're comparing different smelling pieces of shit.

Statistically, you're right; Dyson has been > Frenchy this sesson, by quite a bit actually. However, Frenchy can offer the outfield assist and presents at least the possibility of power at the plate.

Eh, they both suck pretty hard.

Dyson scores a lot when he is in and typically bats so late in the order that he doesn't end a lot of innings. Frenchy has hit way top high in the lineup and never produces when guys like Billy and Moose are in scoring position.

It's July 8th and Wil Myers has 27 HR's and 72 RBI. In all likelihood we are out of contention in the AL Central due to no starting pitching.

Is there any doubt that half a season in the bigs would be a good learning experience for Myers? Also, is there any doubt that he's better than Dyson at the very least, and probably better than Francouer?

Same for Odorizzi. It's ridiculous not to bring them up now.

Well the Royals are in last place homerun wise in the AL. I get the feeling they are being taught that home runs are an evil and singles is the way to go.
