With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore.

We do not have starting pitching.

Oh yeah, we've also got this:



Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

If you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

In other news... did anyone catch Danny Parkins interviewing David Glass this morning? Apparently, he asked Glass if he was selling the team (Glass said no, emphatically ). His follow up was what Glass thought about fans that wanted him to sell.

Glass walked out of the interview at that point...

What a ****ing coward. When you shit all over your fans for years and the team hasn't won anything in 20+ years what kind of questions do you expect?

Said he was thinking about something extremely simple: "Glass: Sell the team"

However, he was taking suggestions. Mentioned that he tried to get support from 810 overall, and the company wasn't on board. However, Kietzman was contemplating paying the for the banner himself.

Hope he has the gumption to follow through. At the very least, I guarantee the Royals have been alerted to the possibility, since all teams monitor the local media.

I would develop a new respect for KK and 810 if he did that. About time KC media stands up to the worst owner in sports.

Nope, they cannot do anything. But the very fact that they're aware means that a bit of pressure has already been put on Glass. In other words, he knows the rumblings, and that's a start. A small start, but a start.

KK is full of shit. Union Broadcasting had the Royals contract and lost money on it big time. When Union was the rights holder, he had his tongue up the Royals ass constantly. When the Royals re-bid their radio contract and Entercom won, KK said "Oh, conglommo radio has deep pockets, and when the Royals start to get good, they'll make money, blah blah blah..." Now that Union doesn't have a dog in the fight, KK can start to talk shit on the Glass Family. Does the Glass Family Ownership suck? Absolutely. But KK and Union Broadcasting change their stripes depending on their relationship with the teams they cover. One reason KK has been so buddy buddy with Pioli's regime is, they now have post-game sponsorship with the Chiefs. Same reason Union goes so easy on Bill Snyder, they carry K-State football. You don't shit where you eat. But always remember, commercial radio exists to sell COMMERCIAL TIME, and they are whores, for sale to the highest, and most current bidder.

Why is it stupid? Perhaps the timing is bad because the next few days are supposed to be Glass's "Moment of Glory" but its certainly not a stupid question.

Your analysis of the flip-flopping is pretty accurate, but, in this case, KK's new-found agenda (dumping on the Glass family) aligns with one of my greatest hopes (Glass family gets tired of bullshit and sells).
