Peyton “looked real good” throwing to new Broncos teammates

As he settles in with the Broncos, Peyton Manning is learning the rules of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, including that he can work out with teammates, but only away from the team’s facilities and outside the watchful eyes of the coaches. And that’s exactly what Manning did today.

Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post reports that Manning took snaps from center J.D. Walton and threw passes to wide receiver Eric Decker and tight end Julius Thomas during a session at a Denver-area high school, and afterward Decker said he liked what he saw.

“He looked real good, though he probably won’t admit that he’s feeling good or feeling back to the way he wants to be,” Decker said.

Decker said Manning is trying to get comfortable with his new teammates now, and that the players who were on the roster last year are talking to him about the offensive concepts the Broncos employed — even though the offense will be quite a bit different with Manning running it in 2012.

“Just some drill work, talking through stuff, so he gets familiar with the verbage and the calls,” Decker said. “The biggest thing is he wanted to get a feel for us, and a feel for being under center.”

The Denver Post published 23 photos from today’s session. To the extent that you can tell anything from a still photo of a guy throwing a pass in sweats and a T-shirt, Manning looks pretty much like he has always looked.

You are missing the bigger difference, and that is the fact that all of most of KC's tough opponents (ATL, BAL, CIN) they get at home, while Denver gets 4 of its 5 toughest on the road. That could be a two game swing right there.

Enh, I don't think I'd call it a monumental difference... especially with Peyton Freaking Manning.

The guy who has Matt Cassell, Brian Dabboll and Romeo Crennell, hasn't won a playoff since leather helmets, has stood by and watched while Denver, San Diego and Oakland have gone to Superbowls, yet thinks he has the standing to run smack is calling someone naive?

Don't forget about the Seahawks, they reached the SB after leaving the AFCW, but should be mentioned since they were in the AFCW back when KC toppled the Houston Oilers so many years ago.
