As much fun as all of the controversy has been the last couple days, the mods have discussed all of this craziness (yes, there are enough of us to have discussion now!) and decided to clarify a few things. So...here ya go.

The rules aren't changing. They're the same as they've been for years.
We WILL be trying to enforce them a little more consistently. Things like bypassing the filters and threats will be handled when reported, and sometimes when they're not. Just depends on how cranky we are.
However, we aren't going to go banning people on sight unless they either refuse to comply or have been a repeat offender. You'll get a warning or two if you're doing something that's iffy.
The infractions system is not meant to be used to rapid-fire infractions to get someone banned. Anyone who uses them for that purpose (unless you're killing spammers) will lose the privs immediately.

That said, Hootie fully reinstated and can consider this a warning that he went too far. CC can consider this a warning not to abuse the infractions system (as can H5N1). GoChiefs would be unbanned as well, but you can't come back screaming "**** the mods" and expect that to be all fine and dandy. However, his sentence is being reduced back to two weeks. He needs some time to work on his next video anyway.

I know this whole deal has been a bit of a mess, but just wanted to reemphasize that nothing's changing. In general, don't be a douchebag, and you'll be fine. The end.

But the line in question isn't even on the same playing field. Sure, he says stupid shit and crosses obvious lines for attention.

Before we go too far down this path, let's not exaggerate the level of offensiveness this "line" represents. This isn't a case of getting someone fired from their job. This isn't a case of tracking someone down IRL and causing physical harm to people or property. This is more similar to the widespread examples of Planeteers who ripped on Ultra Peanut for his decision to become a girl. I never crossed that line, but quite a few people did. I don't see CC's situation as being much different. Both of them shared their info and both of them faced some predictable blowback.

What the **** do I care if a 25 year old grows up? I love being a husband and a father, and I enjoy the lifestyle that comes with earning a nice salary, but that life isn't for everyone. I think the world would be better off if more people who weren't cut out for marraige and parenthood simply refused to get married and didn't have kids. In the meantime, its fun listening to his stupid stories and remembering when I used to be cool in my own mind.

Apparently my thought on the subject is totally baffling to everyone but me...but I will reiterate...and maybe this is just me...(and this applies online and off)...but I could be dying from terminal cancer and OTWP could PM me or start a thread about me and title it "haha, that prick is finally getting what he deserves" or WHATEVER...and I'd laugh right with you.

Hell, I don't hold it against him for the life he lives. The only time Hootie annoys me is when he takes up the mantle of thinking he's teaching people lessons when he points out whatever it is he points out in efforts to flame people. I'm not sure why he thinks he's the moral and common sense center of the planet, but he sure likes to act it.

In short...

Coffey did this last year, he knew I wasn't a fan of him putting temp bans on me and he was warned by DaFace not to do it again. He then made a big deal about how he was "only looking for a reaction" and "I did exactly what he wanted me to do" last time...

so he got what he ****ing wanted again, didn't he? Instead this time instead of attacking his height and his tiny penis...he gave me a shit ton of ammunition to use against him instead.

No one is ever going to convince me I'm at fault. None of it EVER would have happened had he not been drunk on ChiefsPlanet...

Hey...

he shared information with me unsolicited while handing me an infraction in a thread where I was going back and forth with the owner of the site at the time...and he was drunk

the information shared was then linked in the thread with a new name to show the mods the mod abuse I had encountered

and then I deciphered the information given to me...because I have a lot of experience in the 'getting into relationships with girls I meet at bars' field.

A lot.

What he claims didn't make any sense...and the only reason he's getting any special treatment is because he is a serviceman (and that was part of Phil's message he sent to me on Facebook)...

not my fault

and the fact we have moderators contacting me on facebook is more of an invasion of privacy than anything I did to CrazyCoffey...

Don't take this the wrong way, as I'm really not trying to start a fight, but how different are you than hootie? I've never met you, but you've posted things about your past that make it seem like your youthful (and some not so youthful) indiscretions meet or exceed anything hootie has done.
