A source in St. Louis familiar with the situation told NewsCenter 16 Thursday afternoon that Missouri will leave the Big XII and soon join the Big 10. Other schools expected to follow the Tigers are Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers and Nebraska.

Many have speculated that such an expansion would include Notre Dame but ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick told me today that the Irish prefer to stay independent in football and in the Big East for other sports. Swarbrick said maintaining football Independence is such a part of what Notre Dame is.

He went on to say the Big East is a great partner for the University in other sports.

"We do have to monitor what is going on," Swarbrick said. "There will be significant shifts. "Hopefully we can navigate them by keeping our football independent and keeping our Big East affiliation because that is what we care about."

The move of Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers to the Big Ten from the Big East could categorically change the landscape of the Big East itself. Thus, what Swarbrick is referring to when stating the University must continue to monitor what is going on.

The interview with Swarbrick was done before the late afternoon announcement.

CU has always recruited California quite well, so that will only increase.

CU predominantly recruits in Cali, Arizona, and Texas. They don't recruit the Midwest.

They have more alums in Pac 10 states than Big XII states.

AZ & AZ St could bolt later. It's a real scenario.

CU had no desire to take place in conference talks. This hasn't been something that's been 2 weeks in the making, it's been discussed for months. CU was leaving once they got the Pac 10 invite, there's nothing that would have happened in these conference talks that could have convinced them to stay.

CU's invitation was independent of Texas' invitation, every other schools' was conditional on a Texas acceptance.

My school being relegated to second tier status? Every school in the nation is 2nd teir status compared to Texas. tOSU comes close but fails miserably in the end. I don't think you have any idea about the power Texas wields. Iowa is complete ****ing garbage compared to Texas. I, honestly, have no issues with my school getting $8,000,000 more per year while staying in its native conference. I don't exactly see how that is a bad thing.

Under Talkins it's been pitiful. 4 North titles in Barnett's final 5 years wasn't bad. 16th all-time in wins, 22nd in win %, the quicker DH is fired this season the better.
