A source in St. Louis familiar with the situation told NewsCenter 16 Thursday afternoon that Missouri will leave the Big XII and soon join the Big 10. Other schools expected to follow the Tigers are Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers and Nebraska.

Many have speculated that such an expansion would include Notre Dame but ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick told me today that the Irish prefer to stay independent in football and in the Big East for other sports. Swarbrick said maintaining football Independence is such a part of what Notre Dame is.

He went on to say the Big East is a great partner for the University in other sports.

"We do have to monitor what is going on," Swarbrick said. "There will be significant shifts. "Hopefully we can navigate them by keeping our football independent and keeping our Big East affiliation because that is what we care about."

The move of Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers to the Big Ten from the Big East could categorically change the landscape of the Big East itself. Thus, what Swarbrick is referring to when stating the University must continue to monitor what is going on.

The interview with Swarbrick was done before the late afternoon announcement.

He's (1-8) if you hadn't noticed.

You'd be lucky to get 2-3 high ceiling A ball prospects now.

I've spent a lifetime trying to convince people that the players with the highest ceilings spend most of their time in A Ball. Guess you think AAA is where to go.

Why call a press conference to essentially say nothing? Couldn't they just release a written statement to the press or something?

MU officials announce the formation of the first "super-mini" conference comprised of KU, KST, ISU and MU. There will be a "west division" comprised of KU and KST and a "east division" comprised of ISU and MU. Football schedule will include 10 non conference games followed by division play (KU vs KST and MU vs ISU). Winners will advance to the "Mountain Dew Big 4" championship game with the winner advancing to the "Who gives a rats a**" bowl" held on Christmas day in Bismark ND.

According to OUinsider, the SEC has given the incentive to Texas that if they join the SEC, Alabama would move to the East division.

I guess they wanted to make it clear that any notion we had that they had some great secret plan for success is completely unfounded.

Alden's handled this matter about as well as Pinkel coaches defense. Maybe he could take a cue from Perkins and GET THE **** OUT.
