A source in St. Louis familiar with the situation told NewsCenter 16 Thursday afternoon that Missouri will leave the Big XII and soon join the Big 10. Other schools expected to follow the Tigers are Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers and Nebraska.

Many have speculated that such an expansion would include Notre Dame but ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick told me today that the Irish prefer to stay independent in football and in the Big East for other sports. Swarbrick said maintaining football Independence is such a part of what Notre Dame is.

He went on to say the Big East is a great partner for the University in other sports.

"We do have to monitor what is going on," Swarbrick said. "There will be significant shifts. "Hopefully we can navigate them by keeping our football independent and keeping our Big East affiliation because that is what we care about."

The move of Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers to the Big Ten from the Big East could categorically change the landscape of the Big East itself. Thus, what Swarbrick is referring to when stating the University must continue to monitor what is going on.

The interview with Swarbrick was done before the late afternoon announcement.

I cheer for Kansas City teams because I live in KC. See, I get the best of both worlds that way: better schooling, better roads, cleaner state without the magnitudes of methheads and gas stations filled with white trash. It's a win win for me.

It's a good gig for you guys going to Big 10, so congratulations on that. We'll still be enjoying our school's greater success as Jayhawks over here while you clean the glass of that oh so empty trophy case.

How so? Because I don't live in ONE of Missouri's counties that pays a certain tax? If you don't live in that county, you're just as much of a parasite, Mr. KC/St. Louis fan who lives in Illinois. So why don't go back to being a fan of a worthless athletic department.

To be fair, KS farmers' subsidized contributions to the industrial food system are, while damaging in different ways, not really any less damaging that MO's meth. And it isn't like KS doesn't have meth problems.

Oh, I'm all for the Chiefs moving down to JOCO. I would gladly pay more taxes (kind of like I do for better schools and roads). I think you misunderstood my "best of both worlds" comment. It's not that I'm worried about paying the tax, I'm just happy I don't have to live in Missouri to be a fan of a Kansas City team. I'm not a fan of anything St. Louis for example. Besides, haven't we already talked about the irony of the only 2 Missouri markets being shared with other states?

This is a very old and tired argument. I don't know why you always bring up pro teams when we talk about our respective schools. Well, actually I do, and the reason makes me smile.
