There's a screaming deal on a haunted house not far from where I live. It's enormous, and I think I could convert it to an office given its zoning and a previous use as an office. However, there's the little matter of being haunted.

I had initially thought that the carriage house could be converted back into parking. You could see from the outside that it had been turned into what I thought was a gallery of some sort, with a big curved wall in it. As it turns out, the carriage house is a nice loft/house that's probably 1,500 square feet or more, and with some fixup it would be a really cool space. The second floor of the carriage house has ceilings that have to be 30 feet high at the peak. And oddly, the carriage house had a basement. That's kind of like your garage having a basement.

Sounds like a free cat is part of the deal.

I'd still buy that house in a heartbeat, though. Most ghosts are assumed to be benevolent leftover "imprints". And, if they're pretty active, you can build your own theme park ride through the house. "Grim grinning ghosts, come out to so-cia-liiiiiiize..."

I'd buy it, but would go over to my neighbors to watch tv. Wouldn't have a tv in the house for my kids to watch statick.

If you're going to buy it and use it as commercial space then you'll need to probably increase the work estimates by a significant number - especially if you're gutting. The standards for commercial building permits are significantly higher.

I'm sure you know that already but it looks like a ton of work but amazing at the same time.

I'm not sure why the parking is an issue. Obviously anytime you are downtown it will be an issue. Millions of people work in downtowns and and they have to provide parking and usually its not paid for.

It didn't feel haunted at all. It just seemed like a nice house that's had rumors spread about it. I'm trying to convince my wife to go look at it now.
