Am I reading too much into that quote? It's not often you hear about a "franchise left tackle" being a core guy "in some fashion." Is Haley alluding to something, or is he just using "Haley Speak"?

HALEY: “This is why I hate to talk about specific guys because it’s a much bigger list than I will go through. But Branden is another core guy in some fashion for us. He’s a guy that developed as the year went on and made great progress with his overall conditioning and that needs to continue. He’s another guy like a couple of others that I spoke of that need to come into this off-season at least where he’s at now.

“Now, if on his own he does more to improve then that’s great. If we can get him to pick up where he left off he’s going to continue to develop. He’s a young player who is developing all the time and has the right attitude and mindset. I expect him to do nothing but get better.

“One of the things I was most encouraged about over this last stretch of games was the sack total. It showed that the offensive line had improved, that the quarterback has improved, the backs had improved, and the overall understanding of what we’re trying to get done when we throw the football has improved. he spent 3/4 of the season sucking ass and the last quarter playing passable LT.

what is there to be sold on? If Albert doesn't continue to improve he is a problem as a left OT.

I think Branden has a long successful future with KC, but I still have a feeling he may end up at either RT or LG in time.
