The Pioli Watch Thread

I'm hijacking the thread starter to use for an "updates" area. Sorry cardken. Here are a few recent updates:

Pioli would find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs' home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli." Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Right, because playing at a big school is indicative of coaching success...

Bill Belichick played at powerhouse Wesleyan University
Scott Pioli played at Central Connecticut State University
Don Shula at John Carroll University
Tony Dungy at Minnesota
Bill Parcels at Wichita State

Also-- his inexperience prior to being hired into the NFL should be a testament to his ability/character... it's hardly a stretch to say he's been successful thus far in his professional career. Somebody saw something in him, and rightfully so.

That said, he is the enemy now, so I wish nothing but the worst upon his team (the Broncos)

Pees is just one of the candidates, who nobody has mentioned, so I threw it out there, because he's supposedly on the short list.

Pioli and Mcdaniels? Im glad Denver got him first!!
why would we want some guy that hasn't been a head coach?

McDaniels attended John Carroll University, where he played football as a quarterback and wide receiver from 1995 to 1998
1999-2000

2001

2002-2003

2004-2008

2006-2008

2009-present

(Graduate Assistant)
New England Patriots
(Personnel Assistant)
New England Patriots
(Defensive Coaching
Assistant)
New England Patriots
(Quarterbacks Coach)
New England Patriots
(Offensive Coordinator)
Denver Broncos

Notice he played at a nobody school is 32 years old, was a graduate assistant for 1 year and got a NFL job? Took over a great offense and now is Head coach material anyone remember Charlie Weis???????????????

And, I'm impressed with McDaniels. He's worked his way up fast and, overload of Patriots offensive talent aside, I think he's a damn good coordinator. Head coach? We'll have to see.

I'd really prefer if the GM brings in a coach from a team outside of NE. Those guys just don't seem to do well without Belichick.

I agree... but I can guarantee we will see multiple new threads like:

Who will Pioli hire for head coach?
When will Herm be fired?
What does Pioli look like with women's underpants?

I am pretty sure it will be all over the place.

He did nothing to warrant a job in the NFL in the first place.
Gunther Cunningham came to the US on a boat and was adopted and given a coaching position as well.
Many guys get jobs in the league because of who they know.
No way can anyone sit and say they think Charlie Weis or Romeo Crennell are good coaches.
Mcdaniels got to the NFL after haing 1 year of being a grad ass. at Michigan State, hell the Head Coach at Mich State usually doesn't get that chance.
Many ex Nfl players that are great do not get these chances.
Mcdaniles will be out in Denver in 3 years.
