The Pioli Watch Thread

I'm hijacking the thread starter to use for an "updates" area. Sorry cardken. Here are a few recent updates:

Pioli would find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs' home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli." Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

It's not like Iowa has ever had great talent or been overly talented compared to other teams in college football.

Id take those two in a heartbeat.

1. They are proven
2. They have ZERO connections to Carl and Marty.

I absolutely do not want McDaniels. He is way too young and inexperienced to be a head coach.

I'm totally ok with young...we need a guy willing to put in 100 hour weeks...I'd love a young head coach with an experienced staff around him.

Ferentz's name pops up every year in association with NFL coaching positions. He pulls his name out of the ring every time. I'd be surprised if he decides to leave Iowa.

HOw much experience do u need? How much proven do u need?

Andy Reid never held a coodinator position of any sort when he was hired by the Eagles.

There is no magic template to use.

As long as we get a proven GM, ill trust whatever decision he makes.

They said during his bowl game he wanted to stay put until all of his kids were through school...and right now he has a 15 year old son still in high school.

But who knows...maybe if he's teamed with Pioli and enters a situation where success isn't an immediate must..he might make the jump.

I don't think Chiefs fans will be too down on him if we go 4-12 again next season...we can still blame it all on Herm and Carl for another year or two.

Considering the shape this team is in, I don't think we should take a very risky gamble on someone like McDaniels. Belichick's coordinator's haven't fared well as head coaches either.

i dont see what the college game does to totally predict NFL success.

recruiting is a huge aspect of the college game and isn't a factor in the NFL. And we have seen how well some NFL assistants fare.

the two will bully two different kinds of coaches. i doubt there are a lot of guys who would be huge successes in both.

obviously pioli thinks frerentz would be suited for the pro game. if he's our pick, then whatever. i will give him a shot
