The Pioli Watch Thread

I'm hijacking the thread starter to use for an "updates" area. Sorry cardken. Here are a few recent updates:

Pioli would find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs' home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli." That Ferentz thing doesn't really scare me, just as many coordinators have failed as college coaches, if he feels comfortable with the guy so far his judgment has been fine.

I didn't like Ferentz at first as a head coach...but I watched Iowa in their bowl game and they looked like a very well coached team.

Anything has to be better than Herm.

Many of the same reports that reported this so called Pioli-Ferentz "pact" were the same reports that seemed to suggest Pioli going to Cleveland was all but a done deal.

Are there any hardcore Iowa fans on the board that might be able to give some insight on Ferentz?

I know, I know, we all wish that htimsiasdkfaj;lsd were here, but, alas...

I'm just sour on the idea of having Kirk Ferentz as coach of the Chiefs, not about the possiblities of Pioli of GM.

Plus they run a pro style offense that features a power running game and lots and lots of play-action...something I like.

Ferentz seems like a smart guy though...

Ferentz was in the NFL before he was in college so it's not like he's a straight college guy...

Yep, you can't trust the media on stuff like this. Most of the time they are just talking out of their asses.

From a lifestyle perspective, Kansas City might be a better fit for Pioli than even Cleveland.
Isn't that Bill Parcells daughter? Is Bill from Witchita?

It was hard to tell considering the mess they were facing in Spurrier's South Carolina team.

I mean...at least we can say one thing about Carl...the cap situation this team was left in might be the #1 reason we get Pioli...

I know Ferentz isn't the most exciting choice... I do think I'd rather have him than McDaniels. But if Pioli does as good as everyone thinks he will by feeding his coach good players, that might make a bigger difference than who the coach is. But Ferentz has been in the NFL and runs more of a pro style system than a lot of college coaches.. so it's not like we're hiring Urban Meyer.
