2 guys that aren't getting a ton of looks but have in the past are Russ Grimm and Mike Mulurky.
Mulurky has done very well with the falcons O this year. Signing Turner and Drafting Ryan sure helps him look good, but many thought they would have trouble with that OL this year. Grimm was close to getting the Steelers job before they decided on Tomlin. He has the pedigree with playing OL for Joe Gibbs and coaching under Cowher doesn't hurt.

I forget the policy on repeating PREMIUM~! information, if there even is one. But I think one can easily infer from Claythan's earlier "meeting more than once" post that Nick is saying Clark and Pioli have already met.
That's not even the half of it, really, but I don't want to pile on too much. |

Why not? He's played the game. Coached offense and defense in college. Been in player development/front office on a couple of NFL teams. He has 3 Super Bowl rings.
Just what the hell do you want to see our your new GM's resume?

Browns may have to pick between Mangini, Pioli
The Cleveland Browns' strong interest in fired New York Jets coach Eric Mangini could impact their search for a front-office executive, a league source with knowledge of the situation told the Cleveland Plain Dealer Thursday. The Browns interviewed Mangini on Tuesday night and were impressed with him. They interviewed New England Patriots Vice President Scott Pioli on Wednesday and liked him, too. But it's unknown if the two would be willing to work together after the Spygate scandal, so for the Browns, it might come to this: Do they hire the coach they love or the general manager they love? If the Browns hire Mangini, knowing there is evidence that the coach is the biggest indicator of a franchise's success, he'd probably already have his own right-hand personnel man in mind. If they hire Pioli, he'd undoubtedly be given the authority to hire his own coach. One thing is certain: The Browns want their coach and GM in complete synch this time, so they'd let each man choose his partner. Pioli and Mangini were once close, but it is unknown exactly where they stand after the yearlong controversy over the Patriots' taping of the Jets' defensive signals. Pioli left his meeting with the Browns still intent on going through with his scheduled interview with the Kansas City Chiefs. A source told The Plain Dealer on Thursday that the two sides parted ways with no timeframe for a decision from Pioli. The source said a report in the Boston Herald that the Browns gave him a deadline of Thursday was untrue. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/p...urn=nfl,131893 Sorry if repost.

Courant.com Patriots Browns, Chiefs Pursuing Pioli Combined Wire Services January 2, 2009 CLEVELAND — As the Browns' courtship with Scott Pioli continues, one of his closest football friends said it would be foolish for anyone to speculate about the executive's plans. Pioli, who has spent nine years helping the Patriots become a powerhouse, met with Browns owner Randy Lerner on Wednesday in New York to discuss Cleveland's vacancy at general manager. It is not known whether Lerner offered Pioli the job. Contradictory reports surfaced Thursday regarding Pioli's interest in the Browns, who went 4-12 and have lost at least 10 games in five of the past six seasons. Pioli, 43, might also interview with the Chiefs, whose search appears centered on Pioli, a Central Connecticut graduate. One of the many names linked to Pioli of late is Iowa coach and former UConn linebacker Kirk Ferentz, who worked with Pioli in Cleveland in the 1990s. Ferentz warned of guessing Pioli's next move. "I think it's presumptuous to think anybody knows what he's doing right now," Ferentz said Thursday after the Hawkeyes beat South Carolina in the Outback Bowl. Lerner also plans to meet with Falcons president Rich McKay about the GM position. On the Browns' coaching front, Lerner interviewed Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo on Thursday. The Browns have interviewed fired Jets coach Eric Mangini and will meet with Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels today. McDaniels, 32, grew up in Canton, Ohio. The Broncos also have asked for permission to speak with McDaniels. According to a Boston Herald report, if Pioli is hired by the Browns, Ferentz would be his choice as coach. "He and I haven't talked in three weeks," said Ferentz, the Browns' offensive line coach in 1993-95. "We've both been doing our jobs." Copyright © 2009, The Hartford Courant
