Sad part is.. You could give Herm the perfect team, no injuries and a pro bowl QB, he would never ever produce better than 10-6 and a very short playoff run....

I cant ever see a way that Herm could ever succeed as a Top Quality Coach in the NFL...

We're running a spread-hybrid offense in spite of Herm-haters who said a Herm-led team would never pass the ball like we're doing. All these people that said the offense was "Hermcuffed" are now changing their conspiracy theory to something even sillier like Herm is losing control of the offense to Chan, and he's not calling offensive plays anymore.

But the fear is still there. Even though people are acknowledging the change, it usually comes with the tag "But I'm sure if we struggle a little bit, Herm will take control again and go back to R2P2." Anything to keep Herm available for future blame, should there be need for it.

I still have doubts about how effective this offense can be over an entire season, but the fact that Herm isn't stubbornly fighting it the whole way is a decent indicator that he isn't the evil tyrant of offensive playcalling that he's been accused of.

the entire first half of the season had to implode

our offense had to start looking like it wouldn't score 100 pts the ENTIRE SEASON

we had to lose our top 2 starting quarterbacks

we lost our starting RB to "thuggery" (props to whitlock)

please .... what part of "complete collapse" didn't force Herm to let Gailey open up the offense?

If you're correct and Herm's retained beyond this season, he'd better continue to allow Gailey to run his offense.

Chan has always had full control. Just don't mistake that he's only interested in the spread. He has maintained from Day 1 that he wants a power running game. Look at his offenses at Georgia Tech.

Well, that's what I think to but there are so many people here disputing that fact, I'll play devil's advocate.

Chan ran the power running offense in Miami as well with Ricky Williams.

But truth be told, I think those days are over in Kansas City.

The Chiefs just don't have the personnel to run a power offense. So we're back to a finesse offense.

Which is fine by me.

I strongly disagree that the things you listed were the reasoning behind going to the spread-hybrid offense. There is no more pressure on Herm now than there was at the end of last year. Contrary to popular belief, Herm isn't in danger of losing his job right now. He's not under the requirement of winning X games. Nobody is forcing this on Herm in the slightest. Chan has been in charge the entire time. Chan is changing the approach, not Herm. He's finally figuring out how to make the offense work with the players we have. And Chan has said as much.
