If Herm gets this team to the playoffs

what would you do? Would anybody admit that he was better than Vermeil? Would you bitch and moan? Would you think it was a fluke?

What is stupifying is that we made it last year by Huard playing better than expected. When something is better than expected you expect it to fall back toward its true average the following year. Yet all projections of the Chiefs having a good year hinged on Huard having the same kind of year that he had last year. That wasn't very realistic. Coupled with the neutering of the offense by the 1 Arrowhead Drive braintrust, this difference is enough to drive a 9-7 playoff team to a five win team, even with improvements at several other positions.

What's that? Uh -- Playoffs? Don't talk about -- playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game!

Remember the problems when Paul Wiggin and Frank Ganz were the Head Coaches?

It's the same garbage in a slightly different wrapper.

Now maybe some of that is on Solari and other assistants, but the buck stops with Herm.
Did you see Shanahan taking a timeout just before the Raiders kicked what would have been a winning field goal? He waited until the last second and the players on the field didn't even know it had been called. The Raiders thought they had won for a second, then had to go and kick it again - and missed. That won the game for Denver. I can't see Herm doing something like that.

NO..more like Oakland lines up for the kick and misses, but due to mass confusion on the sideline, the defense is called for too many men on the field, give Oakland 5 yds and they make the second kick. That's how Herm rolls!

If KC makes the playoffs I will watch them lose on the road in the first round again... then I'm going to drill my technodrome up from the center of the earth and destroy Kaufmann Stadium and make Arrowhead watch, then destroy Arrowhead and have a final battle with Gun where the 50 yard line was.

Herm isn't better than Vermeil. Herm IS VERMEIL. He just builds/destroys the team in the opposite direction.

But in the end, half a team is still half a team.

No. Herm can draft. That alone makes him better than DV.

He also doesn't seem to develop weepy manlove attachments to reerun failures like McCleon. That's a plus, as well.

But he shouldn't have anything to do with planning/running an offense, EVER. Just like Dick shouldn't have anything to do with planning/running a defense, EVER.

I think the defense is coming into its own. I think they are going to be a force. I liked what I saw from the linebackers yesterday.

The offense will get better. Bowe is going to help a lot. Croyle will get his shot. We'll eventually develop our own identity when it comes to moving the ball. I think 8-8 is very attainable and I wouldn't be surprised by another 9-7.
