If Herm gets this team to the playoffs

what would you do? Would anybody admit that he was better than Vermeil? Would you bitch and moan? Would you think it was a fluke?

If Herm gets a 5-11 team into the playoffs, color me fucked.

I'd do what I always do when we finish 9-7 and lose in the first round....

The only way they "make it to a playoff game" this year is if they buy tickets. They just have to many issues to fix right now.

He managed to back in last year but I don't see this team being as good.

If we do make the playoffs I'll be very happy for the players but I'll still think Peterson needs to go and Hermie needs to coach defense for some division III college.

I'd still question his coaching methods. Despite the 'plans' he has for this team, the fact is that his teams CLEARLY are not ready to compete when week one rolls around. That's on him. The game or 2 lead he routinely gives the rest of the league could mean the difference between a road wildcard game or a bye with a home game.

Now, back to reality....

He is too easily influenced by Carl to do what he thinks is necessary for this ball club. He has repeatedly mentioned he is trying to build to something and, I don't care what he says, he wants to start Croyle but it was obvious to everyone who watched Hard Knocks that Peterson is too afraid of taking a step backward.

On top of ALL that....The man mismanages a game horribly. Don't tell me that every head coach gets second guessed. I don't see Belichick, Fisher, Shanahan, Holmgren routinely mismanaging the clock or situation. If you'd like, I could point to at LEAST 3 obvious terrible stategic calls yesterday. Now maybe some of that is on Solari and other assistants, but the buck stops with Herm.

If we make the playoffs two years in a row, Herm deserves coach of the year.

I had to chuckle reading this thread and I thought back to last years playoff game and the prior playoff game in 2003. In 2003, KC had opportunities to win that game -- untimely missed FG's and a uncharacteristic fumble by Holmes turned the game in Indy's favor early in the second half, but early in the game, KC was fighting back and scoring.

Last year, KC didnt get a first down until the 3rd quarter and even when the defense gave KC the ball on the 11yd line, KC couldnt score even 3 pts, all the while letting Indy, score, then score again and then score some more so that the game was pretty much over by halftime.

So in my opinion both performances were horrible, but IMO, the '03 playoff game sucked slightly less than the 06 game. What does that mean for this year? Nothing, they're not making the playoffs this year and will soon be the doormat of the league by the time Herm and Carl ride off into the sunset. This teams not building anything.
