Croyle throws off of his back foot on occasion.

I have heard/read several people bashing on Croyle for throwing off of his back foot. I just got done watching SPORTSCENTER run highlights of some of last nights pre-season games. And guess what? Favre threw at TD pass off his back foot. So did Garcia. And Hasselback threw a pass off his backfoot as well. Looks like Croyle is in some good company IMO.

Nearly everyone knows the answer to that. Point is, a QB is not a pitcher in baseball. Not everytime is he going to get to set his feet where he wants to throw... like a pitcher does. Sometimes you have to throw off of your back foot, 'cause the receiver may be only open for a bit and the QB doesn't have time to adjust to that bit. And if the QB did reset his feet and that ball gets intercepted, the QB would be ripped for telegraphing his passes.

The fact is, whether it's a pitch, or throwing a pass, they both actually throw off their back foot.

It's the follow through mechanics, or lack thereof, that people are actually bitching about.

His mechanics aren't holding him back at this point. He's completing everything when he plays smart.

Throwing off the back foot concerned me in training camp, but on Croyle's better drives it's clearly not an issue. He's physically fine.

It's mental errors he's got to work on, and I believe he can.

the problem is that you just don't know until you try and are we really gonna want to try during a 'winning' season.

imo the only real question is to start Croyle game 1 or wait until around mid-season

Croyle delivers a good ball. We'll see.

I said they saved Huard's ass.

When Green returned, they reverted to their same old pass dropping ways.

It seemed they stepped up their concentration for Huard.

I've noticed his tendency to throw while back pedaling (it's more than just off his back foot, he actually has backwards momentum). It looks wrong, but his accuracy and zip is pretty good regardless of the funky mechanics. Like others, I'm more concerned about him learning when and where to throw it.

The problem wasn't that he threw off his back foot, the problem was he didn't correctly read the defense. Young QBs do that. It's no big deal to me -- but Herm believes in zero risk-taking on offense, so who knows what he thinks about it.

actually if he had stepped into the throw it might of gone to the back corner of the endzone where only griffin could catch it.

Yeah, Wilson was behind the DB. If that pass is thrown at the back corner of the endzone, nobody has a chance at catching it other then Wilson.

I disagree. I don't think the pass could have been completed. Croyle thought the receiver had one-on-one coverage, and he didn't.

back-foot, front-foot, left foot, right foot... who cares. The botton line is Croyle is barely an NFL Europe caliber QB (at best).

Meanwhile David Carr and Brady Quinn both were impressive this weekend. Just an FYI
