Manny Lawson, another Ryan Sims??

Sims was a monster in college. He was able to stop the run and get pressure on the qb, a combination not seen often by a DT. There is no question that he benefited from playing alongside Julius Peppers. The player in this years draft most often compared to peppers is Williams, who plays the opposite side from Lawson. Lawson undoubtedly benefited some by playing opposite of Williams. Would we be making the same mistake twice by drafting Lawson?

I don't think so. Sims is a fat, lazy, piece of shit. Manny isn't.

Ends don't benefit from other Ends as much as a tackle and End benfit from each other. End.

Agree, it would be so stupid to take Lawson. It would be about as stupid as taking a Penn State running back, we all know how bad they suck in the pros.

Right on brother. Sims played right next to Peppers. Lawson plays on the other side of the field as Williams. It's not the same.

I never said it would be stupid to take Lawson, in fact, I think it is no-brain pick for us if he is there at 20 (not sure he will be though). I am just asking the question to spark a little football debate (little else chiefs related to talk about). That said, I do believe a defensive end's numbers can be drastically different depending upon whether you are the primary concern of the offense.

Sims has had three injuries which have killed his playing time and wrecked his conditioning. First the arm- a freak accident on the field; then the hamstring- hurt lunging in an attempt to intercept the football on the field; then the foot thing- when he was finally tearing it up on the field. No one can say that Sims has produced like we hoped when he was drafted but I don't see where he is a fat, lazy, piece of shit.

No, Manny infact played on the strongside on the D-line, and recieved the same attention from the opposition that Williams did.

I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but, I think Sims is going to step up his game this year. With the addition of Lawson or Hall and maybe Pat Watkins, we just might field a defense this year.

I do agree. Simms seemed to be improved last year before his injury. If he can take one more step forward, he may be that force we have been missing up the middle.
