Anyone have him falling out of the first round completely?
Shocking.

Oh, I don't give a crap about that collusion stuff. I figure his dad's presence or whatever had a lot to do with why he dropped, but also, and maybe more importantly, he apparently had a lot of bad interviews. As a former marketing guy, I can say with 100% certainty that first impressions are extremely important, and Shadeur didn't give any good ones it seems.

But as for talent, he showed enough talent on the field, imo. And his stats are good enough as well.

Now, none of that means that he'll end up being a great player in the NFL. he has to put in the work, period. If he doesn't treat it like the privilege and honor that it is to play in the NFL, he'll probably amount to nothing.

but there's enough ability in him to make a good career for himself. His issues are mental, or inside his heart.

"But but but this was a coach's son!" they say.

As if that changed the result of a kid thinking he's getting drafted when he's not. They don't care about the kids getting hurt, they care about Shedeur and the racial component.

Clearly every team that needed a QB didn’t see that with Fraudeur.
Who said they saw him as a clear franchise QB? You’re shifting the goalposts. Clear franchise QBs go in the first half of the first round. Bar ****ing none.

There’s a wide gulf between that and day 3 QBs which is what you labeled him as.

And, just fyi, 2/3 of QBs drafted in the first rd aren't given extensions by the team that drafted them, since 2000.

11 or 12 of the 14 playoff teams last year were helmed by a first round QB.

There are plenty of examples of QB’s who put up far better #’s than Fraudeur did in college who were similarly drafted low… if not lower or not at all.

Tommy Chang, Case Keenum, Jason White… just to name a few.

Fair enough… would you agree that QB’s drafted on Day 1 and Day 2 are reasonably expected to be starting-caliber QB’s?

Every team that needs a starting QB passed on him.

didn't know that. Don't keep track of such things though. Is that consistent at all? I mean, is it pretty much every year all the playoff teams are led by 1st rd QBs? I would tend to doubt it, but if you happen to know, great.

Yep. I never said Shadeur was a great talent, just that he showed enough talent in college to play in the NFL. I also never said he should've been a 1st rd pick. I wouldn't know that, being as I'm not a pro NFL scout. But some of the guys I tend to trust, like Louis Riddick, said Shadeur was a solid QB prospect. Given that, I'll reserve my judgement on the kid until I see him play a season or so.

I somewhat agree with that. First round, 100%. Second round, not remotely so clear.

He was never a first round talent. The guy was probably supposed to be drafted at some point in the second or maybe third. But then it became a self-fulfilling slippery slope and he dropped to the fifth.

If the Chiefs had been a team in need of a QB and we passed on him in the third or fourth, I would’ve felt that was ****ing cowardly. But I also think it matters what environment you’re throwing him into.

In the 2017 draft, if we were looking to replace Smith, I would’ve loved to have considered this kid with Reid as coach over some of the others like Tyler ****ing Bray. At the very least Shedeur operated with a terrible OL and had to overcome that. His ego is a clear negative but at least he’s faced some adversity.
