*****2025 NFL DRAFT THREAD - NO SPOILERS*****

Version 2025 - PATRICK MAHOMES & THE RETURN TO GLORY

Let's ****ing do this.

Quote:
Rules for once the draft begins:
  1. No spoiled picks in this thread, all weekend. This means that as tweets are leaking picks a few minutes before the selection is announced live, you don't post it in this thread (ex: embedded tweets), reference it in this thread (ex: Joe Slapdick says it's So and So to Green Bay) or hint at it (ex: "it's a RB!") or asking "questions" after the news is already out to make it seem like you're a genius guesser (ex: "Vegas gonna take player here?").
  2. Don't be a dick.
Otherwise, have fun, talk shit, freak out and lose your goddamned minds. It's Draft Weekend. The hot takes in these threads are so funny.

Quote:
NOTE: Like in year's past, I will be starting player threads for each of our picks as they are made, with videos and notable stats/takes in the OP.
These separate player threads will be made as soon as the news breaks, but outside of this thread. This means if you are in the lounge, you may see the player prior to the TV announcement.
I will also link the player threads below, shortly after they are drafted. Pure knee-jerk gold to reference in the future.

Here are our picks:

Round 1, #28: Josh Simmons
Round 2, #63: Omar Norman-Lott
Round 3, #66: Ashton Gillotte
Round 3, #85: Nohl Williams
Round 4, #133: Jalen Royals
Round 5, #156: Jeffrey Bassa
Round 7, #228: Brashard Smith

Here is a list of the prospects the Chiefs have shown interest in this year.

Here are our prior years' Draft Threads:

Did Josh Jacobs turn the Raiders into a contender? How many playoff wins did Ezekiel Elliott get for the Cowturds? Was Barkley the right pick for the Giants? I could go on and on. The Eagles did better by grabbing Barkley as a free agent after his rookie deal. I can't think of a single team in recent history that has made their team a contender by wasting a high pick on a running back. I would have been fine drafting a running back at 95 or later. But Simmons,if healthy, has the potential to do much more for the Chiefs that any running back that was available for them

I’d trade both picks to go up and get Restrepo

The position isn’t a need right now, but that kid has some electric potential.

Left tackle is a really difficult position to play at the NFL level. Just because Kingsley didn't succeed at it doesn't change his stellar physical attributes. There's every reason to expect him to be able to play well inside, without the worry of being on the island.

And we have Moore as the stop-gap insurance policy. In February, we lost a Super Bowl because we had zero left tackles on our roster. Now we have two.

Call it a win and move on.
Leaving him alone to handle Hendrickson in week 2 of his rookie season is absolutely on the coaching staff for being so we Todd did!

Amazing...just a few weeks ago, he was being mocked as high as the 2nd round. I think Isaiah Bond and Jared Ivey were the same at one point.

I also think that maybe some red flag shows up that no one wants to mention, so it never gets to the media. Maybe the guy has a really annoying personality or is dumb as a rock.

That anonymous comment about how bad Shadeur Sanders' interview was is a good example. The media apparently didn't know about this, but everyone in the league did.

He's already almost fully recovered now. It happened in October. It is almost May. Then by the time training camp is here he will be ready to roll. Patellar Tendon recovery is around 6 months and Simmons by most sources only had a partial tear. A milder form of the injury than many others who were permanently inhibited.

That's the luxury when you are basically the only team in decades to draft one of the top 2 LTs in the NFL with a 7th round pick.

Pat affords us a lot more draft flexibility purely because he outplays his contract and there are 15 other teams that pay roughly the same amount and maybe 2 or 3 match that, but the majority of teams have to make up that impact / production / talent in their roster.

If they get an elite LT out of Simmons at the end of the 1st it will again give the Chiefs an epic advantage in shoring up the 2 hardest positions to fill and with an elite player on top of it.

No different from guys getting paid similar money to Jones, but not capable of the impact CJ actually has.

Net positive players are how make the cap larger in theory.

Ready to go means ready to practice. We’ve seen guys who are “ready to go” like Thuney last year not get cleared for contact until the pre season. You’re hearing what you want to hear.

Agreed

To be clear I'm not at all saying we should've went with a back at #1 this year because that guy wasn't available in the entire class

But consistently drafting the position in the sixth or seventh round and filling in the rest with scrap heap vets keeps this offense from reaching its zenith IMO... shit man just gimme a 3rd round swing like Charles or Hunt were, that didn't turn out too bad right?
