Call Your Shot: Who will be the Chiefs first pick in the 2025 NFL draft?

I'm going with Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio St.

I think the Chiefs would prefer a guy like Walter Nolen or Derrick Harmon falls into their lap, but I don't think that happens next Thursday night, or at least I'm not going to get me hopes up.

A lot of people will not like this pick, due to the injury risk, but the Chiefs take a swing at a T that otherwise would never be in that late 1st round range.

Side note: I could also see Josh Conerly being the pick and could've just as easily chose him. Upside isn't as high, but he's probably safer given his health.

Duncan, your machine accepted the offer (sometimes; sometimes not, in which case I throw in a 7 and it took it 'bout every time I tried).

We get: 34, 99, 105 and 154
we give: 31, 95, 133

34: Josh Conerly
63: Omarr Norman-Lott (Darien Porter was my other option here)
66: Jalen Royals (Passed on Burch, Stewart and Farmer)
99: Kyle Kennard (Chris Paul)
105: Barrett Carter (Billy Bowman, Tory Horton, Kyle Williams, Logan Brown)
154: Trevor Etienne (Damien Martinez, Cobee Bryant, Chimere Dike, Jaydon Blue)

I think there's a fair bit of optimism in that, but as I look at it, I sure do like the haul.

Now I note, I would be PISSED if the draft happened this way only because Egubka went at 32 and Burden at 33. But with Conerly still there, it didn't go THAT poorly.

I don't think we can extract quite that much value, but it would be pretty intriguing. Adding the 5th AND moving that 4th up to within striking range of a pretty intriguing group of players, especially with Carter, Bowman and Horton, is definitely worth considering.

Hmmmm........

Matt Derrick made the point that the 5th year option is t as big of a deal for qb hungry teams. They’re either good and you extend them after year 3 or just kind of whatever let them play it out. Obviously not an exact rule or anything but was really good food for thought. That 5th year options more valuable for mcduffies or Karlaftis types that you may need time to hammer a deal with.

But what if they're decent but not elite. They won't reset the market and that 5th year becomes a placeholder for year 1 (or 2) of the new deal.

First time I tried it, Vegas traded back up to 25 for Dart.

Second time, Giants refused to trade.

Your deal was accepted on the 3rd try without giving up a R7. Egbuka went 32 to the Eagles.

34: Conerly

63: Porter (Norman-Lott WAS available)

66: Jalen Royals (Passed on Burch, Stewart and Farmer)

99: Bowman (Kennard went three picks before to...****ing Philly again)

105: Chris Paul

154: Etienne

Pretty consistent with who is available, and I turned the predictability/chaos meter to 3/5. ZERO DL help, so I hate it.

Thats pretty much it. Are you willing to trade out to hang on to Aiden Oconnel or maybe Daniel jones I guess?

Brian Daboll is supposedly in love with Jaxson Dart...I hate trading down and hope we don't do it unless another team dangles a first rounder next year.

Only two first round/second round LT's...and one is a question mark to ever be as physically able as he was prior to injury. So do we take the chance?

No idea.

He'll probably take a corner.

No way would I do that if I were the Chiefs.

They would have to flip their 3rd for KC's late third....maybe KC throws in next years fourth (they have an extra pick due to the Thuney deal)

Giants need a QB...Chiefs are fine where they are at. The move could cost them the player they scouted...and an extra contract year.

By that logic so can Morris and Kingsley. (I actually think Kingsley can but most of you don’t so that’s the point. )
