I'm kind of getting to where I was with WR's at this point.

Just draft a guy with the physical size, athleticism, and length in every draft. Eventually, maybe one works out. If not, you probably still have a monster line everywhere else full of big, strong, athletic beasts on rookie deals.

Same here.

You drafted Nourzad and that guy from Holy Cross whose name escapes me at the moment. I know Caliendo was dirt cheap, and I understand if either/both of those rookies from last year still aren't ready, but at some point you have to look at any DL with average power pushing Caliendo around like it's no big deal and say to yourself, "I know we can't have it all when it comes to depth, but THAT right there is just not good enough."

You say this like it's a horrible thing. Like we've been denying the horrible reality as long as possible. Oh no. We spent our last pick in the 2nd round on a starting LG who has upside to maybe one day be a starting LT in the NFL.

People just wanted a confirmation from the coaches, dude.

And no, I'm still not accepting that Kingsley can't play tackle in the NFL. It might not happen with the Chiefs if we draft a LT in the 1st and he ends up working out, but that frame he's got is exactly what you want in an NFL tackle.

I wonder if Kingsley is still training at both spots like he was late in camp and throughout the season.

Seems like a pretty simple and logical approach, I feel like a lot of teams operate this way. The Packers always seem to have a great o-line full of dudes I've never heard of, because they follow this blueprint. Time for KC to start doing so as well, especially with guards and centers costing $20 million a year these days. Just keep drafting WRs, OL, DL and CB by the dozen and fill the holes everywhere else.

Well then you can't go signing all your IOL to record setting deals...

They're quickly running out of room at the Inn to stick failed OT projects.

(Yet another reason why we should've moved on from Trey Smith, but whatever -- they didn't ask me)

Caliendo is ass and they know it.

They had a hard-on for Thuney and Caliendo was the necessary by-product of that.

Caliendo would have to show up looking like a Pro Bowler to win that spot. And he's ass. So he won't.

Mettauer is coming back from injury and could be solid competition against Caliendo as the reserve LG. I hope...

There's a sizeable contingent of posters on this board (Sassy isn't one of them, for the record) who would sooner call a player shit in a bag than have any kind of patience.

The coaches know more than we do. They didn't know with any confidence if Kingsley would start to "get it" his 2nd year in the league, so they got an insurance policy, and are getting him some LG experience. If they draft a tackle in the 1st round, then yeah, I can imagine we see Kingsley's place at LG for the forseeable future. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's a hell of a lot better than a Breeland Speaks or Skyy Moore.

I think there’s gonna be some big changes next year with money freed up. Tranquill, Danna, Omenihu, Jawaan, Kelce, Hollywood. All will be leaving.

Of course Mahomes is getting his contract redone as well as they planned so that will be some more cap space for the next 3 years.

We’ll be fine

Looks like all the good O-linemen going forward is going to cost $15 million, at a minimum to have a good lineman past their rookie deal.

I saw a video on you tube after that week in Denver that showed all his reps in that game. He was going against their starters the first half(if I remember that right?). He looked good. If he plays like that regularly. That pick is money.

Tells me that Veach COULD take the best OL on the board regardless if its a tackle or guard.

I think we all can agree that between signing Moore that has looked good at tackle versus Kingsley/Caliendo at LG and the uncertainty of Smith as our long term RG. Taking a stud guard could be the play! Hell even a guy like Grey Zabel or Simmons that could play both spots but Veach being just fine with either as our 10+ year starting guard.

Simmons drafted for LT potential but Veach 100% OK with him at guard?

It was a 2nd round pick. He is a long time starter there, Veach hit it out of the park.
