Yeah, I think many of us look back at Thigpen wistfully and remember a gritty underdog that Chan Gailey did the best he could to design an offense around his strengths...but in the end the kid still went 1-10. There is undoubtedly a small percentage of players that never caught on in the NFL despite having the talent and intelligence, but never got their break. Thigpen isn't in the "might have been" category- but rather the "over-achiever / limited potential" category.

I know the screen grab is small-- but it's a jarring reminder of those times.

How similar is the pistol offense we ran that season to the current rpo scheme?

Elvis Grbac still has the single game passing yards record with 503.

Marc Boerigter has the longest reception in franchise history (99 yards).

Bono with the longest QB run in franchise history.

Stephone Paige with the single game receiving yardage record (309 yards).
Mahomes came close on several occasions to that Grbac record with 503 yards. I vividly remember Grbac throwing for 503 in a losing effort against the Raiders. Mahomes should have broken it against Tampa in 2020.

Van Brocklin in 1951 still has the NFL record for most passing yards in a game (554). You'd think someone in today's NFL would have broken it by now.
