I don’t care if it would cost three 1st rd picks. Mahomes is not gonna be this athletic for much longer.

The closer to the draft we get, the more I think defensive line/EDGE is our sweet spot. I'm holding out hope for one of either Burden or Egbuka, as I've made clear lol, but this is shaping up to be a defensive line first rounder by all appearances.

There's a lot of players that might be available that I wouldn't mind having. It looks like a solid draft class. Burden or Egbuka would be cool and I wouldn't mind Conerly or a dlineman at all. Hell even one of them running backs. I'm excited for the draft.

Talk to me when we hit the 3rd and I may have an answer.

Mostly I just see absolutely no reason to be dogmatic about it. My expectation is that through our first 3 picks and likely our first 4, there are going to be guys in the trenches that I like more than the available RBs.

We shall see.

Mostly I just don't care that much. If we get through the 3rd and all I take are trench players because that's the way the board fell -- good. We probably got some really nice talent. And if come the 4th round I'm looking at Tuten, Harvey, Blue, Giddens, Brashard Smith and/or Trevor Etienne as a possible 4th round RB -- aight. Works for me.

But I'm not taking Hampton in the 1st. I'm not taking Henderson, Johnson or Judkins in the 2nd. I'm not taking Skattebo in the 3rd. I'm just not interested in these guys prior to where they're likely to go and I have little interest in trading up given our relative lack of draft capital this season.

Imagine if Veach and Spags can get on the same page and draft an end who actually gets snaps and production without relying on CJ. First time for everything.

There are about 20 different ways to go in the first round that could help this team. Same for each round all the way through 4.

Arguing about who and when is the fun, I guess.

But make NO mistake-there is not a day one upgrade LT in this draft at all, more than likely and certainly not where we can reach them. There just isn't. Not Simmons, who may never play meaningful NFL football, not Conerly, who isn't strong enough to anchor but might be after a year. Not Ersery, or Grant, or either of the Texas guys, or Jackson who filled in pretty well for Simmons.

Just...no.

Now, you may feel like it's worth the risk to take the shot; and to that I say, why are you OUT on Kingsley then? Because next year at this time, you're going to be out on one of these kids, too.

I'm not saying we SHOULDN'T take the shot. I'm saying we need to realize what it is we'd actually be doing, and be okay with that.

Turns out having a good RB didn't mean shit -- what mattered was having a DL that absolutely tortured us without even having to try very hard. That was both a testament to the strength of their DL and the weakness of our OL.

Recent history, even with Saquon, Jacobs and Henry, still supports that there are FAR more valuable positions on the field than RB.

Yeah Henderson is not my first option, but I think he is a possibility.

The top 3 DT’s are still my favorite. Nolen, Harmon and Grant. Just can’t see them passing on em. They’re too good and those guys usually don’t fall that far in a regular draft.

Not sure they would take a DE first rd with the depth of this class that is loaded with solid Spags prototypes. Felix was on the Kay Adams show and floated that the Chiefs expect a jump from him this year, so him, Karlaftis, Omenihu and Spags favorite Danna don’t leave many snaps for a first rd DE. Even so, is there a sizable disparity between Scourton and a DE you could get at 63? I’m not so sure there is.

Assuming the 3 DT’s are gone, this is where it might get tricky. Maybe a guy like Starks falls? Doubt it. A corner will be there but I just can’t see them taking a boundary corner so early.


In this scenario a LT like Conerly or RB like Henderson starts to become an option IMO

Short of QB or maybe OG, there's not a single position they could take at #31 that I would find upsetting. Just get a good football player. The rest will all work out. Rinse and repeat.

Homer pick but you could do a lot worse than Devin Neal in the 4th. Haven’t paid enough attention to see if he’d climb higher than that but seems like the right slot for him

I've seen a couple of analysis and those guys aren't as sold on the backs beyond the top 10 being game changers....

And I don't really want to see us draft Scateboo...he does nothing for me.

If we wanted a back like him we could have had Schrader last year.
