Seeing as Bearcat banned me from the KU basketball thread for daring to use statistics to dispel the constant trashing of the team’s best player this year by far, I’ll need somewhere to put my thoughts for this year’s tournament.

In sum, the committee screwed KU again. Their resume (and wins) should have had them at at least a 6 seed and maybe even a 5. Arkansas is also the toughest matchup they could have had among possible opponents and KU matches up horribly against them (stay tuned as to why).

As far as the rest of the tournament goes, I’m picking Houston to win it all and Kentucky (fraud) to lose in the first or second round.

Considering the roster was built in 8 weeks off of all transfers with a HC in their first year, with only one of those players having played for the HC before, yes.

Yeah. I have this one pegged as a pretty boring, chalky tournament. I expect the FF to be all 1’s or maybe a 2 sneaks in there but we were kinda due for a dud tourney and so far, we got it.

I believe the SEC set the record for most teams to advance to the 2nd round with 8, just for the B1G to do it a little later.

The key difference, however, is the SEC went 8-6 (including the first four) and the B1G went 8-0.

I prefer the favorites advance or else we end up with some 11 seed losing by 25 in the Final Four... I like seeing all of the 4vs5 and 3vs6 for the next couple days, and we even get a couple 1-seed matchups that look intriguing.

But yeah, it was an extra boring first round... I think the only time I was locked into any game, much less multiples (I remember last year watching UK lose and some Florida game that was like 98-98 in OT) was when Robert Morris was hanging on against Alabama, and there was another game that was pretty close.

Going by chalk, the SEC should have been 9-5 based off seeding. The Big Ten had a lower seed for all their matchups.

Big Ten team seedings:
2,3,4,4,5,5,6,7

SEC team's that lost seedings:
6,8,9,9,10,11 (mizz #6 lulz)

I wonder how the Big 10's 9-14 teams would have done...
3 of them had losing records and 2 others were 1 and 2 games over .500

Big Ten teams w/20 wins that didn't make the tourney: ZERO
Big 12 teams w/20 wins that didn't make the tourney: ZERO
Big East teams w/20 wins that didn't make the tourney: ZERO

Indiana and WVU, like Texas won 19 games and Texas got the play in. Big whoop. Doubtful that either of those teams could have done better.

Illinois #6 played a play-in team, Xavier.
UCLA #7 played Utah St.

Mizz #6, again, lulz.
Miss St #8 played Baylor #9 - 3pt loss
Oklahoma #9 played 2x defending champ UConn.
Georgia #9 played Gonzaga #8, perennial tourney team.
Vandy #10 played St. Mary's #7, had the lead late and lost by 3.
Arkansas #10 BEAT Kansas #7, lulz.
Texas #11 lost play-in game to 22 win Xavier.

Texas was 1 of 2 bad SEC losses. The other being, lulz, Mizz.
