Media Mocks 2025

Figured we’d start a thread to share and debate mock drafts we find around the web, even though we all know the mocks we produce ourselves here in the Draft Forum are far superior!

Interesting to see Luther Burden III was left out of the first round of both Daniel Jeremiah and Mel Kiper Jr.'s mock

I think Burden is definitely in play for us, Moore is our current LT so there’s really not reason to suspect we wouldn’t take a OT in the 2nd - 4th and hope he develops over the next year. A WR would at least see immediate play time, and having another cost controlled weapon at an expensive position plays right into our cap strategy IMO. I’d be happy with a pick in the trenches at either side of the ball, but a weapon would be more exciting for sure.

Get an impact DL in the first and trade up in the second for Burden?

Shemar Stewart too.

That would be really tough, but if the medicals check out with Simmons, it would probably be foolish to pass on him.

You cannot rule LT out. I championed signing Moore but that doesn't mean I am warm and fuzzy about him as the long-term answer. I don't think his contract speaks to this team being warm and fuzzy all over either. They can't go into this season with Moore and a nothing burger. It's more like a move to get us through until a youngster develops and if Moore turns out to be more than you'd guessed he'd be, then you can move that rookie down the line somewhere, probably to RT.

If we stand pat at 31 and Conerly, Burden, and (name your top defensive guy at this point) are all still there, wouldn't it come down to what they feel left tackle is going to look like in the '26 draft? By all accounts, this is a "meh" draft for left tackles outside the top three or so guys, right? Take the immediate impact/value guy in Burden at 31, perhaps grab a Logan Brown type later in the draft for depth, and reassess next year?

This draft is not very weak at OT. It's actually relatively normal. I think if Simmons hadn't hurt his knee, it'd be very, very normal in that you have two top-15 guys at LT, one at RT, and a couple of other guys that fit somewhere in the 20-25 range. I don't understand the thought that's it's overly weak. It has some nice-looking developmental prospects as well.

Next year's draft is the one that, right now, actually looks weak. You probably have Mauigoa from Miami as a top LT. I don't think teams will see Proctor from Alabama as a LT but maybe if he has a combine like Becton did AND he doesn't give up as much pressure this year. Lomu from Utah probably is in the mix. The new OT for Ohio State, Onianwa, looks legit but has to prove he can go from playing at Rice to playing in the Big 10. Freeling from Georgia is probably a RT that could sneak into Round 1 but he has to have a good year. He'll probably get talked up by the pundits as a LT conversion but I doubt it will have serious legs with the NFL.

That's it. Maaaaaaaaaybe it is a class that matches this one. I don't think it will.

Fair, appreciate the insight. The "meh" comes from a lack of plug-and-play options at the position, but I suppose you could make that argument for all the positions, really.

It's funny to see where guys get ranked as the process narrows down versus where guys had them. Everything will concentrate on the mean, but I think about a guy like McShay. A month ago he had Conerly as his top offensive lineman in this draft and his 13th ranked player overall.

At that time McShay said:
Quote:
"Everyone has talked about this Will Campbell guy from LSU who is a guard/tackle, or Kelvin Banks who is a really talented player from Texas. I think Josh Conerly might wind up being the best left tackle," McShay said on the Bill Simmons Podcast. "He is unbelievably athletic with the way that he moves. He's gotten better with his hands, I think there's a chance he's going to be a star from this class, and nobody I've heard or talked to is quite as high on him as I am. Keep an eye on Conerly."
All that has happened since is the Combine where Conerly did nothing to hurt himself. Now he's not in McShay's top 15. I don't subscribe, so I haven't seen where he put him. If The Ringer's Draft Guide is any near representation, he's 37th. Now, I don't see a guy just dropping that opinion and then doing a complete reversal on him later.

So the real question is which player is he and where is he going to go? So many like this this year.

Letting the computer run the entire mock yields some weird results for the Chiefs. I'm sure it does for the other teams too, so it makes it hard to take them too seriously when I'm making the picks for the Chiefs.
