We have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. We aren't going to be a running offense. We just need to have a back that can do it on short yardage and goal. Thats it. Then a second fiddle Jerrick McKinnon type. Thats who we should be trying to find. And honestly Perine was pretty useful in that role. Our RBs were absolutely fine last year.

Kareem Hunt was ELITE AS FK last year in short yardage. You know, the times you are trying to win a football game.

Just when I thought my Chiefs PTSD was clearing up... My stomach gets really queasy when dealing with the 49ers. Memories of Grbac, Bono and other deals start gurgling up from the recesses of my guts.

So, backup LT and now RB with injury history. What could go wrong?

Drafting 29-32 every year makes it difficult, do the Chiefs really need to go 5-12 a couple of years to be able to get some top players?

that's why the NFL is the most fair of the pro sports. The fact is that Veach had to do something about LT and hoping to draft one with the last pick is a major gamble. It's pretty low risk, a 2 year deal if he doesn't work out he's gone shortly.

He has a similar running style as Pacheco interestingly enough. I imagine there’s no reason to rush a Kareem signing, doubt he has much of a market if any with this upcoming rb class. Kareem was welcomed back to KC and I think his contract would be pretty feasible to begin with. Pacheco, Mitchell, Hunt and day 3 rb would keep the position steady.

Hunt is near the end of his career and he lost out on the opportunity to win a SB with the Chiefs, so I'd bet that is front and center in his mind. He wants to come back to the Chiefs if at all possible. He'd take a contract with the Chiefs for somewhat less than he could get elsewhere for the sake of pursuing that SB win. I think he'll still be available after the draft.

Good top end speed, can run outside zone, decent vision and patience. I can see the fit. Hasn't ever been much of a receiving weapon, though, so maybe he gets a little more 1st and 2nd down work.
First RB we've had since Williams that's actually GOOD at outside zone...

Hasn't stopped us from doing a ton of it but also think there's a good chance he breaks in training camp and never takes a snap for us. So more help is needed, IMO.

Yeah this is very likely. Camp body that can be a role player if he sticks around. I'd try to draft one in the 3rd round and hopefully they can start him.

Right.

So after they add Bhashul Tuten in round 3, they will have two?

Mitchell is definitely a lottery ticket type of signing, but IF he stays healthy, he improves our RB room quite a bit.

Just thinking about RBs and health, man, have we been relatively fortunate with our RBs because those guys get dinged a lot.

The practice squad?

Because there's a non-zero chance he'd be available for that in August.
