I agree with you on DL and S. I think it'll be pretty quiet at least until Wednesday though. They need to get under the cap and if they don't get something done with Trey Smith then we won't see anything big.

Crow you're awesome!
I think we need another WR. I know he's on the decline but I don't care. When the Rams release Cooper Kupp, I want him. He does what our other receivers don't do: catches everything, knows where to go, knows how to get into the end zone. |

For me, the glaring needs are as follows: DE - Our room, as it stands, is pretty bad imo, and probably our weakest position. Unfortunately, FA looks very thin now, so we may be having to risk solely building through the draft. I'd consider bringing Omenihu back, up to an absolute max of $8m and probably a single "prove it" year. The issue I have is, I don't think he will prove it. I'm kinda done with the incessant focus on "flexibility" and I'm fairly convinced it results in lots of players who do nothing particularly well. I don't think Omenihu frees up others...but, meh, he's OK, he knows the system etc. After that, who's left? Maybe Dante Fowler, who might be cheap. Z'Adarius Smith will surely cost too much. Think we're rolling the dice in the draft and hoping. DT - The next worst room, and again it's slim pickings in FA now. I still have some vague hope that Lovett can turn into a functional NT, but it seems unwise to assume. There's Onwuzurike, who'd be great, but I'd presume costs too much. Calais Campbell is ancient but would still be an upgrade, but again, probably still a little too much. Outside of that I'd possibly go for someone like Ta'Quon Graham, who should be cheap. I'm assuming it's just dealt with through the draft, lots of options. RB - Would expect this to be dealt with through the draft too, but I'd happily have Hunt back on a min. deal for short-yardage and 3rd downs. Safety - We know Hicks will be used more, and possibly Connor assuming McDuffie is freed up to return to the slot more. But there's a lack of vet savvy and coverage ability. I don't think there's anyone left in FA. I wouldn't hate Blackmon, but I don't think we can prioritise paying him. Thornhill back on a min. deal? Maybe. Guess it'll be through the draft again. Outside of that I can't see any move to cover other positions aside from a backup QB, maybe a bottom of the roster WR? We certainly need a WR4 |

I'd really like to see a DT brought in soon, the pickings are getting really slim out there. Benito Jones or Naquan Jones would probably be my targets as bang-for-your-buck NTs.
Unfortunately, Omenihu is easily the best DE remaining on the market with any youth to him. The only other DE that I'd say is actually better is Za'Darius Smith but who knows how much he wants. Judon and Preston Smith looked washed last year. Emmanuel Ogbah might be an aged option as well. |
