well, let's see what the parameters of the Stafford deal are. They have $44M in cap space before the restructured agreement. It's possible they can't afford to have Alaric Jackson.

No, the Rams gave Stafford permission to seek a trade. Him having discussions with LV and NY do not fall under tampering.

I'm sure they lowered his cap hit this year if anything. They aren't going to recommit to an almost 40 year old QB and then let his up and coming LT walk. Seems like that would be an incredibly poor approach.

Most likely, this opens enough room for them to tag him if needed while they work on a long term deal. We'll see what happens, but it seems highly unlikely they let him walk now.

If they don’t, I don’t see why Jackson would hurry to sign a deal.

He can get a bidding war going with how rare it is for LTs to hit free agency.

Doing anything quick is just in the Rams best interest. We aren’t midseason where he has any injury risk.

I saw they weren't going to tag him as well, but I'm assuming they've opened up some room with the Stafford deal. That could be totally off base, though.

They also might feel comfortable just going back to Joe Noteboom, who was originally pegged as the replacement for Whitworth and will probably come much cheaper. That could be why they aren't overly worried about Jackson testing the market.

I just don't see how you resign an aging statue like Stafford and then let his stud LT leave, but stranger things have happened I suppose. I'll definitely keep holding out hope until I hear otherwise.
