You knew this a year ago when you wanted Wright. And again, as for Wright specifically -- the issue is as to what we were lacking and who might have filled that niche. Maybe time will prove that the answer wasn't Wright, but to act as though the question wasn't asked is simply wrong. If Pacheco is your 'homerun threat' you don't have a very explosive running game -- even when he was healthy. I haven't gotten through all his game logs, but it looks like the longest run of his career was 48 yards. Perine probably has a run that long. The difference between him and a truly dynamic guy are pretty evident. Pacheco is a guy who's a lot like Smith in that he gets a fair bit of fan latitude due to being a homerun draft pick and having an aggressive style. But he's still a limited player.

By the way, that 'very good Dolphins running game' was very good because of one guy -- Achane. And even then, it wasn't great by any stretch. I mean Mostert went out there for 3.3 yards/carry. Jeff Wilson for 3.6. Wright was the most effective backup they had.
And Achane was another guy I REALLY wanted 2 seasons ago. For the very same reasons and despite a healthy Pacheco. This team has needed an explosive addition to the RB room for years and yes, that was readily apparent.

Pacheco had runs of 29, 23, 37, 24, 26, 48, and 31 jsut last year. That's not all of his long runs, just a few of his longest in individual games. Every one of those runs would've been #1 this year.
This is revisionist history. Just because I wanted to add more speed doesn't mean that Pacheco wasn't clearly capable of providing more than enough of them. It was never an issue until this year, and that's just a fact. |

From what I can tell, Pacheco has had ONE carry over 40 yards in his entire career.
He is not and has never been an 'explosive' back. Even carries of 30 yards are pretty rare birds for him; looks like 3-5 of those. Yes, this has been a problem with this offense for a long while.

DJ, are you seriously trying to argue that a 4th round rookie who had 249 yards and 3.7 YPC would've saved our running game? I can't even believe we're doing this right now.
The guy would have BARELY seen the field. They don't play RBs they can't trust with things like pass pro. |

But wherever we end up we need to be looking for more athleticism. Honestly, I have no clue why Carson Steele had a roster spot. Was he killer on STs or something? That is exactly the wrong dude to have on the roster. |

If you want to continue being disingenuous, have at it. Yes -- Isaiah Pacheco was an explosive RB. You've nailed it. And I've said that not drafting Jaylen Wright is why we lost the Super Bowl. Enjoy your victory.

We're good. Isaiah Pacheco is an explosive back. We're okay here.

We need speed. We need lateral agility. And we need someone with a nice feel for the passing game. Good news is there are quite a few of those guys in the draft and I think we’re gonna get one

No, Jaylen Wright wasn't saving this offense and running game. Anything else is irrelevant to my point. |

Yeah - silly me, thinking that a pissing match between you and Sassy might be a useful jumping off point for actual off-season conversation. I probably should've just called you both dumb ****s and gone about my merry way. Seems far more productive.
