Let’s talk Free Agency

A little premature to put this on the front page before March. Who all do you guys like for us? What players do you think should go after?

Any value guys you prefer?

I think a guy like Payton Turner would be a Spaggs DE(6’6” 275). And I don’t think he would cost much. Maybe 5 or 6 million a year. And I think there is still some potential there. He’s only 25.

I would also really like us to sign Bobby Brown, the DT from the Rams. Only 24 years old. But at 6’4” 320 he is a true run stuffer that has some juice in the pass rush.

Would rather take either of them vs watch Veach waste yet another pick on the DL. Wonder how losing Borgonzi is gonna affect our scouting. He was supposedly Veach’s right hand man, and “secret weapon”.

I really like Bobby Brown but Turner is a whole other level of NO.

Thornhill just got released. Anyone interested? I didn't watch that many Cleveland games but he looked decent when we played them. Not sure hell ever get back to his rookie athleticism. And not sure he can be a Reid replacement mentally.

I don't think we'll be shopping in the first wave at all. It'll be bargain shopping. The only guy I can see just targeting would be Jackson. Other than that, it'll be trying to keep our guys and looking to the draft.

I think if they strike early it'll be at Chase Young.

He opens up a lot of options long-term. Now it's also possible that he just doesn't have the motor we want and won't look at him at all.

But if you get Young, you aren't in quite as dire a situation with Karlaftis and can even take him to the 5th year option year if you need to. It's not ideal, but it opens up alternatives. That has some value in its own right.

But I do think we'll be shopping for a DE.

I could see CB being something of a '2nd wave' target for us and perhaps WR.

Here's my long list but knowing we won't sign many...

QB: Cooper Rush (DAL), Jameis Winston (CLE), Carson Wentz (KC)
RB: Elijah Mitchell (SF), Ty Johnson (BUF), Jalen Warren (PIT, RFA), Javonte Williams (DEN), Samaje Perine (KC), Kareem Hunt (KC)
TE: Austin Hooper (NE), Tyler Conklin (NYJ), Mike Gesicki (CIN)
WR: Marquise Brown (KC), Elijah Moore (CLE), Josh Palmer (LAC), Dyami Brown (WAS), Rondale Moore (ATL), Darius Slayton (NYG)
LT: Alaric Jackson (LAR), Jaylon Moore (SF), D.J. Humphries (KC)
RG: Robert Hainsey (TB), Will Hernandez (ARI)
DT: Tershawn Wharton (KC), Roy Lopez (ARI), Benito Jones (MIA), Javon Kinlaw (NYJ), Greg Gaines (TB), B.J. Hill (CIN), Bobby Brown III (LAR), Tedarrell Slaton (GB)
DE: Josh Sweat (PHI), Charles Omenihu (KC), Chase Young (NO), Chauncey Golston (DAL), Dayo Odeyingbo (IND), Joseph Ossai (CIN), Patrick Jones II (MIN)
LB: Jamien Sherwood (NYJ), Nick Bolton (KC), Devin Bush (CLE), Tyrel Dodson (MIA), Dre Greenlaw (SF)
CB: Michael Jackson Sr (CAR), Byron Murphy (MIN), Paulson Adebo (NO), Asante Samuel Jr (LAC)
SS: Richie Grant (ATL), Ashtyn Davis (NYJ)
ST: James Winchester (KC), Matt Araiza (KC)

Guys I probably most want...

1. Alaric Jackson, LT - Easily the best option on the open market and opens up the draft.
2. Josh Sweat, DE - I really like Sweat's ability to bring the heat and he's a solid run defender too. He's far more consistent as a player than Chase Young. Some might argue he's no better than Karlaftis and while that may be true, having two Karlaftis' is better than one.
3. Jamien Sherwood, LB - I so desperately want more athleticism at the second level but this won't happen if the Chiefs stick with Bolton.
4. Marquise Brown, WR - I think there was a real connection with Mahomes and we didn't get to see it evolve. He fits a true need as well.
5. Tershawn Wharton, DT - Wharton has really blossomed into a good player that I think we need to retain. He's still young enough to give you 5 quality seasons.
6. Elijah Mitchell, RB - I know he hasn't been the epitome of health but he's electric and can be a good 3rd down back.
7. Robert Hainsey, IOL - Hainsey can play either guard spot or center, is cerebral and athletic. He'll probably have a mid-tier price but can play quality ball.

Assuming we miss out on Ty Jonson, I’d rather have Kenneth Gainwell than Perine, Hunt or Williams. Kid still really young and has juice.

Eagles don’t really utilize their RB’s in the passing game that much surprisingly. Didn’t with Gainwell and didn’t with Barkley this year.

Think he’d do really well in that role here.

I'd rather keep Hunt and draft Treveyon Henderson.

Thunder and lightning, baby.

If Pittsburgh signs Warren to an RFA Original Round tender, I'd be extremely tempted to give him an offer. He was an UDFA so we'd owe them no draft picks if we got him. They have right of first refusal though and can match the contract. He's the type of RB Andy Reid loves, honestly. Quality receiving back, good production in the run game, and he can pass block pretty well for his size.

I like all of Crow's suggestions above minus Turk. I'd prefer to prioritise either Poona Ford or Teair Tart. Also seen Levi Onwuzurike suggested at a similar salary, and frankly I'd much rather him too if so.

If Jackson and Stanley are out at LT, and assuming DJ may be washed, I would be pretty interested in Jaylon Moore. Limited sample but seems to have improved each year. Solid in pass pro. Fairly young with room to improve further. Assuming the price is significantly lower, I could live with it.

I would get the schadenfreude giggles if we signed Javonte Williams. I kinda hope we don't because he's a bit of a broke dick iirc, but I'd still chuckle at Donk fan if we did.
