Elijah Arroyo

Really enamored with this kid. 6’5, 250 lbs. Excellent athleticism, knows how to run routes, has played H-back, inline, slot and outside. Seems like a very nice TE prospect that fits us.

Matt Miller said he thinks Arroyo will end up being a first rd pick. Not sure I agree with that. Think we would have to use our first pick on him if we want him though. He’ll be long gone by 63.

I don’t follow any college football, but damn this guy looks great. We could def use his skill set with Kelce about done. If Veach can fix the OL without having to use our first on it, that would be a great pick it seems.

I second this! My only concern about adding another TE is… what about Wiley? I thought he and Gray would be a quality duo to replace Kelce, no?

Solid TE draft this year!

Just gotta hope Wiley recovers. Perhaps there's something to be said about a TE who suffers a season ending injury in his first season.

I'm torn on whether I'd prefer a guy like Arroyo or the LSU kid over a RB. RB feels like more of a need, but in Reid's offense a TE feels far more important.

I don't think it was, really, until Kelce developed.

I don't remember TE being a huge feature on Andy's Philly teams, but RB sure was.

Here’s a good article about Reid’s philosophy between Philly and here.

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2018/...tion-of-luxury

Thought his offenses usually ran more through the TEs and RBs. He’s had 5 1000 yard receivers on KC, and 4 on Philly.

Philly

TO 2004 - 1200

Kevin Curtis 2007 - 1100

Desean 2009, 2010 - 1156 and 1056

KC

Maclin 2015 - 1088

Tyreek 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 - 1183, 1479, 1276, 1239

Yeah, I've read all of that before.

I see an awful lot of higher picks on WR's-whether they pan out or not is another matter, and several didn't due to off the field stuff. I also see trades for high end receivers like T.O. So I'm not sure the writer of that piece is actually making the point he thinks he is. About half the time there are at least second round picks in the mix for Andy.

Andy's often quoted philosophy about two OT's, a QB, two pass rushers, and two corners and he'll figure the rest out speaks more to his offensive philosophy of designing free releases and exploiting a defenses' rules in coverage. In other words, he schemes guys open.

If anything, you can see a tendency for hot, nasty speed over size and contested catch types.

And not much at all in TE's prior to Kelce.

But Brian Westbrook used to be money in the bank in Fantasy Football leagues-tons of passes to the RB.

Yeah I was seeing who they had at WR during his Philly days, and almost all except for the obvious were basically 2nd tier WR at best.

I like this kid, but there is part of me that just thinks you can add a pretty damn good WR with pick 95 to pair with Rice and Worthy that would set this team up really well for the future. Would love to see what Pat can do with a full complement of young fast WRs. But he will need time to throw...

Reid had alot of solid TEs in Philly, several years of 60+ catches and 700+ yards.

Here are his dudes...

Jed Weaver 1999
Chad Lewis 2000-2004
L.J. Smith 2005-2008
Brent Celek 2009-2012 (he was until 2015, Ertz came in 2016 but Reid was gone of course in 2013)
Anthony Fasano 2013
Travis Kelce 2014-Present

None were the true #1 focal point like Kelce became here.

Meanwhile at RB here were his dudes

Duce Staley 1999, 2001-2002
Darnell Autry 2000
Brian Westbrook 2003-2009
LeSean McCoy - 2010-2012 (he went on to play until 2014 for PHI)
Jamaal Charles - 2013-2014
Charcandrick West - 2015
Spencer Ware - 2016
Kareem Hunt - 2017-2018
LeSean McCoy - 2019
Clyde Edwards-Helaire - 2020-2021
Isiah Pacheco - 2022-Present

Most of his backs were high-volume receiving backs. Westbrook, McCoy, Charles, Ware, and Hunt all got a lot of touches in the passing game to the tune of 500-700 yards.

I feel like he used the RB a lot more in the passing game before Kelce became the Kelce we have now. He also had a lot smaller, faster, quicker backs than of late.

It sure does stand to reason that getting back to a RB like TreVeyon Henderson as we move out of the Kelce years would take Reid more back to his roots.

As for a TE, I really do prefer Taylor to Arroyo. To each their own though, I feel like both are 2nd round TEs.

I don't think Gray is your ideal every down starter but I think he could take 75% of the Kelce role and be a traditional Reid receiving TE. I think using ammo for a true 3 down back would be worth the investment.

I revisted Arroyo a bit today. I think I'm going to put a 3rd-4th round grade on him. Not very crisp as a route runner, build-up speed, and medical history are big things for me.

I think I like Gunnar Helm a lot more.

I liked Helm too. But his 4.93 and 4.89 forty times are very disappointing. And he looks very under developed in his upper body. No blocking chops at all
