Chase Daniel breaks down the SB

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAVP...el=ChaseDaniel

This is a tough watch, and Chase loves the Chiefs, but as he goes through it, basically he admits this game was on Pat.

Yes, there's times when the protection broke down, but he points out lots of perfectly good pockets where Pat doesn't make the right read, or is looking at the pressure...when there's really not any, or he just pulls the ball down to wide open WR's.

He also points out something a LOT of posters here have pointed out. Pat's mechanics have regressed. And it wasn't until this breakdown that I really saw how bad it's gotten. There's times when his body and footwork are just so bad that there's no way he can make an accurate throw.

So while we do need a left tackle, the hardest part about this watch is....this was really on Pat. Some of the early RPO play calls were just fine. It was just Pat playing the worst game of his career.

Really odd. Just really odd to watch him play this bad, have mechanics this poor, not find the open reads...and Phills NEVER changes their defense the whole game. It was shell coverage the whole time, no blitzes, and just playing zone.

Really wild to watch.

Chase Daniel mentioned he knew Mahomes was going to have a rough game on just the first few throws.

Mechanics off and eyes dropped from looking upfield to watch the Eagles pass-rush.

And aside from LT, this year's offense was much more talented than in '22.
Correlation is not causation. There's a dozen other factors at work here.

It was just a quicksand game.. we didn't get off to a great start.. then we start pressing.. play calls were not well thought out.. etc

Its everyone to blame on this one.. players, coaching, play calling. Simply got out coached and out played. It happens.

just funny that it happens so little to the Chiefs lately that we can't believe it when we see it.

Reasons the Chiefs lost this game:

1 - Patrick was rattled early, which I'm not sure I've ever really seen.
2 - Offensive line was atrocious. 6 sacks with no blitzes. That's...bad.
3 - By the 2nd quarter, it was obvious that there was no room for error, and the pressure got to everybody.
4 - (and probably reason 1) the Eagles are a ****ing really good team.

I mean, if you played that game 10 times, I still don't think this Chiefs team wins 4 of them. It was not a good day against a determined and focused team that was flat out better.

Also, I can't bring myself to watch the video. Yes, I'm a coward. I just want this to go away.

I’ll wait until both Kurt Warner and JTS put out their breakdowns then just watch them back to back to back.

Someone said earlier in the week (on some show can't remember) that it looked like the moment was too big for Pat.

Everyone is gonna shit their pants over that but it does seem that way.

And the comparison he went on to make was that eventually the undefeated season, at the highest leverage moment, got too big for Brady.

14 points in that SB after throttling teams all year.

There's clearly a reason why these things are never accomplished.

I think the threepeat most likely will never get done because the season is so long now, and by the time you've got to the 3rd SB you've played just a ridiculous amount of football compared to everyone else.

Still proud of this team. They still did something no other team ever did, and that is they got back to have a chance at it.

Pat will recover, and let's hope that he cleans up some of his mechanics in the offseason and the line gets fixed.

What happened to Mahomes is exactly what happened to Brady at SB42. A d-line playing the game of their lives.

The Philly d-line did not allow the Chiefs offense to play their game.

A perfect season and three peat were denied.

isn't that why we pay Nagy and that Blaumeier guy? to fix his mechanics? or are they too afraid of him?

Don't know but I gotta give props to a lot of posters here that said all year that in the games where he was struggling his mechanics seemed to be shit.

I didn't really look that much but Chase paused it on some breakdowns and wow, yeah it was bad. Its weird to see how bad Pat's mechanics have regressed from a few years ago. I went back and watched and it's night and day.

Warner completely scalds Andy’s playcalling and the Chiefs’ route concepts and refusal to adjust throughout the game, to the point I actually thought he was being a bit harsh on our coaches.

The truth, of course, is that we ran into a buzzsaw who hadn’t lost a football game with their starting QB since September and a lot went wrong.

Patrick had a bad game, Andy had a bad game, and the OL had a bad game against a great opponent and we got our asses kicked. It happens.
I don’t know it seems like Travis and Pat have lost that loving feeling

Going to watch it today.

Gotta say it’s unusual for Warner to rip a coach and or his playcalling in one of his breakdowns. Pretty sure I can count on just one hand the number of times I’ve seen that in one of his breakdowns. So it must’ve been pretty bad for Kurt to say those kinds of things.

I've been reading this week that Jalen Hurts was so distraught after the last super bowl that he made it his mission to win this time around. In fact, his phone wallpaper is of him walking off the field in SB 57. It didn't help that the defense had the "0 sacks" t-shirts in the last parade, which pissed the Eagles D off. Neither the Chiefs, nor Bills, Raven, etc. were winning this.

So true, he is not setting himself up for good throws. He is living off the past of having superior arm strength to sling it from any angle, position he is in. He was awesome doing this when he first came into the league. Now a few years later he is making it more difficult to do those off balance, those golden shortstop off balance throws he was known for.

As Pat gets older, he is going to have to learn to become more of a pocket passer with a better OL helping him.
