Super Bowl LIX: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good: There wasn't much but a couple things stood out.
1. Worthy played a great game in a shitty loss. Made a great catch in garbage time, excelled when he had the ball and looks to be a true keeper for years to come. Only downside is he has little escape power after the catch.
2. Our tackling was excellent. For a defense that always seemed to be on the field, I can't remember one missed tackle. Bolton had a few for minus yards, Reed had at least one and the rest of the team made tackles.
3. Run defense stopped Saquan like no other. Wharton had a very good game. That was impressive but.....

The Bad: There was plenty
1. Run defense let Jalen Hurts kill them. Once again, we have a chance to get the Eagles off the field or stop them but Hurts had massive running lanes and a huge total of yards, 72 and that was more than Barkley.
2. Drops. Once again Travis drops an early pass and Dhop and Kelce dropped others although the passes were suspect. It added to the failures.
3. Our punter. Dude sucks and kicks bombs into the end zone when we need a big hang time and kicks a weak liner when we need to flip field position. Not our biggest concern but another piece of fail to add to the pile.

The Ugly: There was a HUGE amount of ugly.
1. Andy Reid got out coached and gave up the run too soon. They made NO ADJUSTMENTS at Halftime and Mahomes takes 2 sacks to start 3rd qtr to kill all hope.
2. Mahomes was abysmal. Patrick's decision making ability under pressure is really getting worse and so is his vision. Granted he was getting killed but he was a ****ing train wreck. 11.7 passer rating in this Super Bowl and overall, his stats in Super Bowls is subpar.
He is now 3-2 and while 5 Super Bowls before 30 is most ever, he needs to play 4 good quarters, especially the start of the games.
3. Brett Veach. I have been a huge fan because of Mahomes draft but that goodwill is gone. Dude has too many misses in the draft and how the **** do you think this line was good enough? You saw the result in Tampa Bay Super Bowl, you watched problems all year and you go into the Super Bowl against the best front 4 in football. This is his last chance to fix this or rlse it's time to go.

There was much more but no need to rub salt in the wound.

A total embarrassing performance on every level. Really lowered the status of Mahomes and the Chiefs legacy ....

Yep. Its pretty simple. They had a total fail at on every level at LT this year and had to play with duct tape and in the process mess up two positions. It finally got them.

On the positive side Pat has two rings without a top ten defense. Brady has zero. On the negative side if you take off the Homer goggles there is a reasonable argument that they had the lesser roster top to bottom in most of these five super bowls. It is tough to win like that and veach better have a couple of Philly drafts and off seasons in the next few years or pat might be heading for a dry spell like Brady did for ten years, most Gms seem to have positions that they evaluate best and acquire studs. Belichick even when he was drafting well couldn’t pick a decent WR. Veach seems to struggle with tackles

There's a lot more that the Oline factor but pat sure got more done with two great tackles than he has with an elite interior as a passer.

As I am processing this, here are my thoughts

I get wanting to get the ball out fast, and not running a lot-especially with the D we saw-but the Chiefs o line did nothing.
Not sure if running the ball would have helped. I was very surprised that they started with 3 straight passes.

Our D had no support from the O. They were tired and as good as they are, you get tired. Can you say Iowa?

Too many drops. We make a few first downs in the first quarter, life may be a little different and a little more confident.

I just could not bring myself to watch the second half. I knew there would be some improvement. But at that point, knew it would not be a HOU playoff game improvement. I hoped.

**** the Eagles and especially their fans.

Sorry....while a lot of what you assess is very true I think you are off base on saying it's time for Brett Veach to go.

Yes he has had misses on choices for our O Line but finding a good left tackle either in Free Agency or in the draft is very difficult to begin with, much less where we pick in the draft.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I wouldn’t even say great tackles.

Schwartz was the only great tackle that Mahomes has had.

Let’s not forget how bad Fisher got his ass whooped at times. Bosa wrecked him in the Super Bowl. Hendrickson destroyed him in that Saints game. Just to name a few.

Mahomes trusted him though and just played.

Would be great to have 2 great tackles, but we really need 1 good-great tackle and 1 serviceable tackle.

I'd put Fisher at a c- on a bad day and a b on a good. Mitch was like a steady B+. We've had peak C+ on good days since.
