I was thinking about this last night and changing to jambalaya and maybe a King cake, an outside shot at beignets, and of course biurbon (picked up Angel's Envy Rye and some Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Toasted)... have a friend of a friend who can get the authentic ingredients for the jambalaya from Louisiana .
We had a Vegas themed party last year (granted, didn't serve White Castle) and might as well keep that going this year.

Gonna hang a couple birds in the pit barrel along with some baby backs. Potato salad, beans and slaw. Hot and fast. Peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert.

This year we’ve got Jack Stack arriving today. In years past I’ve ordered Joe’s KC, but Jack Stack had a better deal: chicken wings, burnt ends, brisket, and baked beans.
More challenging was the Super Bowl decor, with our dynasty outlasting the on-its-last-legs Party City. |

Keeping it simple pizza from Casey's, but I'm gonna make some guacamole dip.
Also have some tasty jello shots.

I wanted to make the best use of the weather window and put a small turkey (11 lb) and a brisket on the smoker at 2 yesterday morning. The turkey was done at 5 and brisket at 8. Used a lot of the oak my son in law gave me from Texas.
It's a long process tending to the fire about every hour but worth it. We had turkey for dinner last night and will be having the brisket warmed up tomorrow for the SB. Also made a big batch of home made cole slaw and will be having corn on the cob with green beans. We pretty much eliminated any form of potatoes a few years ago in our weight loss regimen. Also made an apple pie from scratch, 7 apples. Still have some of the pecan pie left I made last week. I have been using that fake sugar to cut down on the calories, but it isn't quite the same. |
